Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

With Haslam's track record, does anyone seriously think Gruden would entertain working for him? Because that's who he would be working and all the medling and control issues that go along with that farging bastage...

Cutcliffe left Ole Miss for similar reasons, he didn't want to be told what to do. They fired him after his first losing season there, but he made them do it.

Gruden would have put it out there if he wanted the job, but somebody like Haslem was keeping him away. He doesn't want the job.

Don't think he would do that to save face for University. The only way this comes out is if the University does it, or a booster does it.

I have said several times that I do not see Gruden working for or under current leadership, which is essentially Haslam

Everyone will have to decide individually what their own nuclear option is. For me personally, it is what I mentioned earlier. If John Currie Hiers a coach, I will no longer support the University of Tennessee in any shape, manner or fashion, until the Haslam influence has been eliminated.

This is where I'm at as well. Not that my two cents will matter at all, but it will matter to me.

After alot of thinking on the matter here is what I have came to conclusion on

1. Insiders on this board get 2nd & 3rd hand info

2. The info they get is most likely coming from low to mid tier boosters who actually think they are in the know.

3. Those mid tier guys hear "we are talking to Gruden" or he is first option

4. They in turn bring it here and things take off.

Think about it rational for a min. if the boosters know malicious acts by Currie/Haslam to keep Gruden deal from falling through. Then they would stand everything to gain by letting the public know via going to the media. And then things would get out of hand, and force Currie to be fired bring in Blackburn and the gruden deal that was 100% done could easily go through.

Hence this is an opinion based message board, and the info that goes around here is very minimal at best. Not bashing anyone, just stating what I think is true. Because if you look at what we had been told to be fact, Gruden was already locked in. Signed Sealed waiting to be brought to the podium. When in fact he MAY have been talked to in general, I seriously doubt anything was ever close. Or at this point in the S*** storm we would have solid proof he was talked to. And we do not nor ever will.

If the other boosters not named Haslam are going to use a nuclear option would it not be best to keep it secret? It would also serve best to deny that possibility in MSM outlets and on Vol nation to catch them off guard. Kinda like they did on Sunday with Schiano.

Just my 2 cents.

I think this is outstanding reasoning.

My apologies Exile, that wasn't specifically directed at you. I know your feelings on the matter. Even though I quoted you, it was more of a 'broad brush' question.

If you want the common fan to join the fight, needs to go public. Most people just seem to think that tn just can't get a good coach. They don't know why.. you have to tell the masses why!!!!

No offense to you 32 but you’re catching my heat at the moment. This 👆🏼Is exactly the sentiment I was talking about this morning. Fans will warm up to this and forget everything that happened this week. Haslam and Currie will win and nothing will change. Tennessee is dead.

If Brohm comes, I dont necessarily think TN is dead - he might be a decent coach, but I'd say UT will stay at the middle of the pack (assuming we get back UP to the middle of the pack). Currie & Haslam will continue calling the shots. But I will always believe that if Blackburn had been hired then Gruden would've been here. I'll always hate Haslam and be embarrassed that my alma mater is controlled by a lying, deceitful crook.

I read Twitter and feel just a slight bit better in reading all the encouraging stuff about Brohm, then I come here and see "that's what THEY want!! For you to accept it!"

What are we supposed to do? Pitch a royal fit like on Sunday because we want Gruden?

We have one booster who is fighting for us. AtlantaVol. The rest seem spineless and Haslam must have their balls in a jar on his desk. I’m over it.
you do not know that, there has only been a few AV level boosters in any forum posting over time. IMHO the number could be double figures in regards to AV type boosters pushing as we hold out hope !!

No, but pressure needs to stay on Currie to be fired.

You assume that Gruden would want it public. He may not for various reasons.

At the end of the day, the interests of the University should be the top priority of the administration. It would appear that is NOT the case. It would appear appeasing a booster is the top priority.

No one person (or family) should have that much power and influence over an entire university.

Not with Haslam in control. NO good to elite coach will come here. These guys aren't dumb. They know what the 'deal' is at UT and they want none of it...
