wouldn’t it make sense that if Currie was with the Tennessee screw job he’d just remove the interim tag from Hoke?

Hoke has shown enough that he can’t captain the ship

At this point, that's probably about to happen. Unless Hoke don't want it, then we go to Shoop...

I don't think they underestimated him per say, I think if what Beav says is true, I think that they thought that with all their combined might that they thought it would be enough to scare Haslam.

Obviously Haslam called their bluff, he looked them right in the eyes and spit in their's.

He pulled out his grapefruit sized marbles and slapped them on the table and dared anyone to test him.

They then backed down. The only one who had any stones about him/her is that supposed Assoc AD who leaked the Schiano deal.

Again, to this day, after all we know, no one can change my mind that Haslam/Currie didn't have all this planned from the beginning, Schiano was their guy and no one else was getting an interview/call, and it was only the fans who caused Haslam to flinch.

Cause if they didn't make him flinch, he wouldn't have had Bill come out and say that they had nothing to do with the attempted hiring of Schiano.

So now the question is, how nasty does this have to get to get Haslam gone. Apparently the boosters can't/won't do it.

Take it to the fans, give some crazy fan the info that is supposedly bad on Haslam and let the fans run with it.

One of two things will happen, either Haslam will have no choice but to step away from the University, or the fans will get such a bad rep that no one will wanna come here and we'll finally take our place at the bottom of the SEC basement.

At this point, what do we have to lose?

I agree however we are already at the bottom of the SEC basement - 0 and 8 in conference play!

I will add that I concur that Haslam pushed all in and it was the fans and legislature that stifled the Schiano hire. I am beginning to think that Haslam knew exactly what he was doing in regards to the other big money booster however he did not anticipate the huge negative fan reaction.

There has been little inside info coming out so Haslam's gamble as to the other big money boosters appears to have "put them in their place". Haslam apparently quashed the rebellion of the "princes".

We are probably on our own now and the AD (HOH) is going to roll out some schmuck Coach Google. I suspect that the hire will occur under the cover of darkness in the late night hours to avoid another fan backlash.

Would still love to see Gruden announced as our head coach but that ship has left the dock.

Nope, that wasn't Haslam's plan, it's quite possible Hoke has just enough gumption in him to fight back if he's pushed.

He obviously didn't care what the local media thought of him when he told them that he was closing practice to everyone. Someone asked him why, and he responded that he wanted it closed and that was that.

That quick exchange was enough to put him out of it.

Haslam wanted Schiano no matter the cost.

From my previous post, raise the amount to a couple hundred million and someone who has that time and money who takes this sh** personally. That's what it will take to bury these guys. Nothing less.

You remove the name and all things assoicated with them from UT and take away their earnings that allow them to continue at UT.

You'd have to pay some serious coin to get good provable tangible proof for conviction to get people to roll. #0 mill here, 40 here, and probably more.

So, close to maybe half a billion and someone with the sack of John Wayne and conviction of the most devout Baptist to make any real change.

Our best hope lies with the court case right now. Yeah $170+ million in total fines isn't going to break Haslam, but it is a dent and more importantly, it causes serious harm to his reputation. He will be forever know as a person who defrauded the people who he viewed as inferior and not as savvy as he is. His superiority complex is on full display and if this doesn't humble him, nothing will.

I just would like take my hat off to PV. He’s obviously working hard and pulling the right strings. I think the last 24hrs is proof of that. First, starting yesterday morning before anyone else even mentioned Cutcliffe, he was very open about how he wanted Cutcliffe (proof: late last night we find out Cutcliffe had been offered). Second, midday yesterday he said that things were getting heated (proof: the fact just after that Bev and B. Haslam come out and tried to cover the butts). Third, he says money isn’t going to help, the only way things are going to change is if the fan base continues to voice their opinions (proof: same as my next point). Fourth, he writes last night, “we won the day! Tomorrow will be interesting!” And followed it up by saying how everything was going to change going forward and that more people were going to be involved in this search going forward (proof: the fact that the search has been reported more than ever before and we’re interviewing coaches other than Sexton’s guys ). Fifth, (which has yet to be seen) he said that the only way UT/Kiffin would even have a conversation with one another is if the fan base made it known that they wanted him and were ok with the hire. I don’t thin (proof: still waiting to be seen, even though I don’t think UT or PV wants this). He also, was the first to shoot down the possibility of Currie being fired before this hire happened. Looking like this, unfortunately, will be another thing he’s right on.

Again, PV was right on all accounts. Like he said, it was definitely an exciting day yesterday and way more public than ever before. He also was the first to say Gundy said no (hours before it was ever reported). He called Beav. out when he said they were working on having a coach public coach say something (later confirming he was talking about Gruden today on Golic) today, saying that he needed to stop making these claims and giving false hope because he could assure us all Gruden was NOT going to do that. I don’t think he is against Beav because he also said that he appreciates all he’s done publically because it has helped a lot but he needed to cease making those kind of claims about Gruden and what “their” trying to accomplish.

My last email to any email address I could find on the UT website, literally. Anyone and everyone....

Does it matter to ANYONE on the Hill that our beloved university is being drug through the mud by anyone and everyone on a local, regional, and national scale?
Somebody at UT who’s in a so-called position of leadership needs to get their ass in front of a microphone. Are you people crazy? Step up damn it.

If roll out Chad Morris or any other Google Coach of that ilk then you can kick the Neyland renovation to the curb. Nobody going to pay for that!

I have a buddy in Knoxville that is the biggest sunshine pumper to ever live. He told me last night he's not renewing his season tickets that he's had for years and he's done going to games or supporting anything UT until this admin is changed. That's really big coming from him. I have a feeling a full on revolt is starting and unless something changes quickly, next season is going to be really bad for UT's pocket book.

Well said!

Sadly, I think they’ll continue to hide in their ivory tower and wait for this to blow over.

I don’t believe enough fans will boycott anything. They know that. 90% of our fans are casual supporters and don’t know and don’t care about any power struggle or the need for change.

I thought I read somewhere that the funding had been pulled for this? Maybe I was hallucinating again...

You see the crowd for the Vanderbilt game? Tennessee is feeling the wrath.

They can kiss those Neyland renovations goodbye.

You are probably right on target with this. They watch and read the national media and have no clue or desire to know anything else.

With him basically calling the shots at UT, it's just going to look like we are ok with accepting the "dirty money" from him. Tennessee should have been distancing the university from Haslam at the first wind of this case.

Has any body of significance to us OG people posted anything last night or today

to add, I remember a lot of talk the last decade or so concerning the atmosphere and public/social aspect of going to games versus the old atmosphere of football crazy filled stands. Doesn't help.

Here's the thing- casual fans are the first to go when losses start mounting.

And we just came off of our first 8-loss season in history.

It's the diehards that have been keeping things going, and now we're sick of the stuff and we see the real problems.

Tennessee's AD revenues will suffer next year when we inevitably scrape the bottom of the outhouse (not even a barrel at this point) for our next coach.
