We are well past the point of being too good for Les Miles. Sunday the fanbase helped to destroy a hire before it could be finalized (justifiably, in my estimation -- I lay the entirety of that fiasco at the feet of our leadership), and tonight we were turned down very publicly by a coach at a middling Big-12 program.

Les Miles was loved by his players. He was an active participant in the community and undertook numerous charitable endeavors. He's a good football coach. Right now Tennessee needs someone who can keep things stable, who can be someone that fans can be proud of for both his on-the-field and off-the-field conduct.

This is a no-brainer. He wants the job. Give it to him. If we have to replace him in 5 or 6 years, so what? He will stabilize our program and bring good players in. It's exactly what we need right now.

I would be much more supportive if i knew his staff was strong. Chief at D.C. Doesn't move the needled much. Would have to have stud OC.

I think we might be looking at 8-4 as our ceiling for a while. In that case, Les is the ticket. I wouldn't hate it.

You are right--we are past the point of hoping to find a guy who is going to win the playoffs, let alone the East. We need to find a guy who can make sure we don't slip past Vandy and Kentucky on an annual basis. Need a guy who can go 4-4 in conference NOW. Not hope to get there 3-4 years from now. Program will be dead by then.

Miles might be the answer, honestly.

Never could get a qb, but a heckuva run game. Believe he has the experience to find assistants and coordinators to build a strong foundation. Id like to see Miles with Tee as OC.

The point is Tee hasn't had the play calling all on his shoulders which is an important piece of the development of most coaches. Maybe he can bye pass that step like Dabo but most coaches can't like Dooley.

I’m so done with this ride...

Saturday: Gruden and Petersen both coming to coach for us. Mullen backup plan (just in case something unforeseen happens...)

Sunday afternoon: Schiano!?!? Schiano!?!? Insiders are all fake.

Sunday evening: We got rid of Schiano! High five?

Later Sunday evening: Schiano was really a smokescreen for Gruden. Insiders are all real.

Later, later Sunday evening: And now the world hates us. Maybe we can get the offensive coordinator from ETSU? If he’ll come here... Insiders are fake again.

Monday: Bring back Lane! He knows how to recruit, and Saban has cold sweats every night because he’s afraid of him... Leaks will happen tomorrow. Currie wants to know how we feel about him. Apparently insiders are real?

Tuesday: Ok, Kiffin’s not coming. Insiders are fake. Brohm? Tee? Gundy? WTH, Gundy?

Tuesday evening: IT’S HAPPENING! People have been “visiting” the Gundys all day, definitely packing. Done deal #UTplane #partyintheback.

Now: The world is over. UT football is dead.

Miles is the call 1,000,000 times over if we're looking for an older guy with SEC ties. Not freaking Kevin Steele. Kevin Steele has the potential to tank the program so hard we go 0-12. Seriously. Miles would at least get the kids excited to play for him and recruit well.

Why would an established high caliber coordinator want to come work for a rookie coach? Makes zero sense. Hiring Tee would be monumental failure. It would be like handing the keys to a car to 10 year old. Sure he might be able to push the peddles but who knows what would happen. If you love tee, you don't want him to take this job. He needs to take smaller steps , not jump off a cliff.

Football won't get fixed until the booster/AD situation is fixed.

People have been saying it for years, but it's never been on full display like it is now.

I feel you, man. I can't stop caring. This is my school. This is my home -- when I lived in Boulder, as I live here now in Georgia, nothing could change the fact that Knoxville is where my heart is. I can't stop loving the Volunteers.

But I can certainly stop paying. And I'm prepared to.

I get that some people think Tee might a bad hire, but the hyperbole is ridiculous. He's a sharp dude. Great recruiter. OC at a major program.

But nah. Apparently he's too stupid to tie his shoelaces and Clay Helton pats him on the head before every game and gives him a Fisher-Price playcall sheet.

I really don't know how you can tell. Right now he is an elite recruiter. That's all we can really say about him. The on the field stuff is hard to measure with him as he hasnt had enough responsibility

Seriously. If Kevin Steele is the hire in three years we'll need TBA's black curtains to cover the empty shame that is the upper deck of Neyland.
