Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

So give us the ammo - or better yet, people with proof, the boosters who courted Gruden need to put something out in public!!!

I've emailed & tweeted - nothing is going to come of that! Not at the current level - practically nothing on twitter about firing Currie!

They can’t give ammo that doesn’t exist. Trolling anonymously and vaguely on a message board is not illegal. Making false statements about someone and standing behind it publicly is a very different story.

How many National Championships has Gruden won?

Lets put it in this perspective.

Since 2009, TN has won 57 games
Since 2009, OSU has won 86 games

OSU also hasn't missed going to a bowl game since 2006

UT has missed going to a bowl 4 years

OSU finished out of the top 25 only three times since 2009

UT has only finished IN the top 25 TWICE since 2009

We can and have done a lot worse than Gundy.
I've always like Gundy for his fire but we have to use a different standard than one of the worst periods in our history.

"At least he's better than Butch/Dooley" stuff is useless.

Not going to happen because/until the people you are referring to come out publicly with their financial commitment to Gruden and against Haslam/Currie. Not sure anyone other than the people on this tread believes Gruden was ever a thing. Got to come out of the dark to be taken seriously.

Like I said, give us plebs some ammo.

This cloak and dagger in the dark bullspit is exactly how Schiano got rolled out. If it comes out that Gruden was a serious candidate and that people with real money want him, then, well, imagine the fan outrage that would happen.

Until something is made public- and something could be made public- I'm going to at last resign to the fact that all of the Gruden talk was a LARP. It's time to get real and stop asking us normal folk to keep giving faith in this- which is the same thing our incompetent AD has been doing to us all along.

Earn it.

This x 1000. People want us to believe the stories that were said here but they are giving us nothing to go on.

If your sources burned you or they were burned themselves, why aren’t they saying what they know? Where in Durwoody did the signing go down, what time, who was there, what were they wearing? Tell us the details and we can put it out there to prove Haslam was the one who refused Gruden. That would for sure ruin the Haslams if we can prove to all of Tennessee and beyond that Gruden was in play.

If there was evidence that this happened that would screw Halsam/Currie it would be all over the place by now. Gruden himself, having the great desire for the job could merely say a couple of sentences and assure his hire. At some point reality has to hit.

Said another way, the people who got Gruden to consider coaching here in the first place are still real people with real money. They wanted, and still want him. But everyone realizes now, Currie and the Haslam influence HAS to go.

That's why they need to become vocal at this point just like the fans. Put it out there. Now is the time to go to war, recruiting is going to be tough no matter what. May as well get this right before we make another move.

With Currie/Haslam out..the power shifts to the people who have a long term plan, and who have been fighting for the fans.

Gruden for sure? No idea...but a lot better odds than they're at now. Imo

with Currie/Haslam OUT, then Gruden becomes very probable with Blackburn or Fulmer running the AD.

thats not some "dream".

Gruden is the RIGHT coach for UT !

This 1000% The shadow game BS isn't doing anything. If big money guys came out and said "X" needed to happen before they put more money into UT the little guys would rally around them in a heartbeat.

Well guys and gals, I have fought the good fight since 2012, but at this point I don’t see a scenario that ousts Haslam short of assassination (...anybody got eyes on ape?)

That being said, I’m back IN for one of these scenarios:

1. Gundy. 113-53 in the BIG12. High octane offense and a track record of developing talent, especially at the QB position.

2. Circle the wagons and hire a Vol, IE Tee Martin. If the plane goes down in flames, at least the flames are orange. I actually think he’d kill it with the right staff.

3. Bring home Lane. He’s a rockstar who will probably win us the SEC East twice before having us on probation and a bowl ban for two years. Worth it, IMHO.

Short of that, I’m following the rest of you guys out the door until Currie, Bev, and the HoH are out.

So in five years from now, after Gundy fails, Currie and Haslam will look towards their next hire.

We at VolNation will look back at this day and wonder... What disgusting news did Knuck have? Should it have been brought forward sooner? Could it have stopped Haslam? Would it have been enough to have gotten Currie fired and Gruden hired?

Lay off knuck.

The disgusting news he referenced last night, he heard from me.

People above my pay grade are aware of it.

No, I am not discussing it here. Flame if you wish, but people who can actually do something about it already know.

I am doing all that I believe I can do, here, in Twitter, and in email. I am also trying desperately to keep people here focused on the importance of FIRE BEFORE HIRE. Because that is what I believe WE as fans can do RIGHT NOW to buy time for the big cheeses to do what they can.

Absolutely irrelevant who the coach is. How many times do I have to say it. The failed and corrupt leadership is the issue.

Oh I get your point, BUT no one has shown they have the ammo to get both of them gone.

If you got it, then you need to do something with it.

I know I for sure as s$%t don't have any info on either one of them, but I'm not a billionaire so.......

Again, if someone has the ammo then straight and direct to the point, they need to stop ***** footing around and do something, don't be scared, be like Gundy, and be a man or woman about it, and do something.

Why have the fans try and do the dirty work if someone higher on the totem pole has the ammo?

What I don't understand is why it's so hard for the 70% of the boosters with money to kick the one guy causing problems (and donating less than the others combined) to the curb?

Even if Gruden was not in play to the extent we thought, the people in high places that want regime change need to come out swinging NOW while the iron is as hot as the fan base. If we think we are going to win with Currie and Haslam running things people are smoking CRACK!

Surely your not serious?

I would take Lane in a heartbeat....he left us for USC...it was his dream to coach there....we all have had a dream we would like to achieve....it was bad timing yes...
He has proved he can go head to head against top teams.
Frankly I am not so sure that I like Gundy over Lane.

What we all are failing to realize is, even if the other power brokers are taking a stand against Haslam in this, many of them probably have a business contract with him. They really can't publicly do anything.

They can, however stand back and see if his name and empire implodes with the court case, THEN go public after it has crumbled.

Agree, Hawk, but that’s not how it works. Matt Stafford is the highest paid guy in NFL history. You either pay them or find cheaper alternatives. We’ve been finding cheaper alternatives for quite some time.

I agree..but there are better coaches for that price. This is Haslam willing to overpay to quickly out someone in place.

Did we forget Jennings was released a week ago, Shiano was trotted out two days ago.

This quick hire is to change the narrative and retain power.

You have to realize that nobody is listening. If he hires Gundy, then he and Bev fade into the background again and people will forget.

I will not. I am sooooo sick of UT admin being in such disarray internally while always giving the Eff You to everyone else.

I won't forget and I will continue calling, emailing, tweeting.

I agree with what your saying needs to be done. They have the leverage with the fan base, they need to go no hold barred right NOW!

Absolutely irrelevant who the coach is. How many times do I have to say it. The failed and corrupt leadership is the issue.

Most people dont like chaos. The longer a chaotic situation goes on, the quicker they are to accept something to make it stop. They are creatures of habit who like homeostasis.

Look on the Gundy board, "who cares what it cost, we have a big name, get it done now". They would have never settled for Gundy at $8M a few days ago. The fan base would've revolted. Put them in a chaotic state for a few days though, and they are willing to accept something they previously would not.

People have to fight against their nature of getting back to homeostasis and let this play out a little longer. Short term pain for long term gain.
