Sorry, that's not the angle I meant. More than I think Kelly is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade over Kelly. So paying the lesser valued one significantly more seems... hard to swallow.

Especially considering $4.66million in California is like $2 dollars and 38 cents compared to... $6-8 million in a land of no income tax

UCLA got the steal of the century. Kelly apparently wanted nothing do with any other job besides UCLA.

We're going to double his salary?

How many times has he been in a playoff or national championship game?

Come on. $4.2 to $8.4 million? You can't be serious. Absurd. I'm done with UT football if true.

No, you don't lose any leverage at all. Hiring Gundy will have donors lining up at the door to make donations (myself included). By increasing the amount of lower/mid level donations they have weakened Haslam's position as a percentage of AD revenue. Furthermore, you have now have a stable MBB and FB program which makes it a much easier program to sell to potential ADs.

I think it's the opposite unfortunately, and when Atlanta posts I think we will hear the same feeling unfortunately. We already had one bigger fish come and say he's done.

Quell the masses.

I look at it this way, Les came from Oklahoma State without anywhere near the success of Gundy and look at what he did at LSU.

Gundy is their best coach ever, by far. The guy has went head to head with Mack Brown, Stoops, Harbaugh, Patterson, Snyder, Briles, etc and beat them all. He's faced more good coaches in the Big 12 than he will in the SEC East.

This. He's a homerun imo. Especially considering the shade being thrown at UT right now.

Two days in a row Josh Ward has had a national yahoo guy on their show essentially calling UT fans idiots. I'm sick of WNML.

All the more reason to insist on firing Currie and cleaning house first, before hiring anyone.
Look man I respect your opinion but it's obvious that we fundamentally disagree on the way ahead. Ensure stability in your top 2 revenue sports (MBB and FB) and then worry about the rest. Hiring Gundy does that. Simple. Or you could let Gundy get away at the expense of MAYBE firing Currie and end up where? Probably with someone like Brohm at best. That's simply malpractice.

And with far less talent than he would have here.

While this is true, but to play devil's advocate, they are finally doing what we've always asked them to do.

Spend the money and get a top flight coach

Is Mike Gundy a top flight coach? It's debatable, but if it were to happen, we can't say " well crap they didn't get a big time winning coach"

Not saying I support Currie or Haslam, but I can't complain if we get something we wanted

after the cheering about Gundy quiets down, fans need to make sure they can hear Currie/Haslam laughing at them.

I’m starting a thread for the Gruden people to keep up with each other and keep the awesome, fun, random conversations going. I can’t csll it anything with grudens name so it will be called “Beavers Den”... best I could do. I’ll Roman numeral it and everything. Hate to see this party come to an end but it appears to be heading down that path. What say you?

I’ll start it the next day after a new coach is announced. Because, you know, it’s still Gruden till it ain’t. 🔜😎

I'll be there rev. I just can't quit you people...
