Offering to double Gundys salary

Gundy is 50 and he's a man. Personally I would take Gundy at ANY price over that lying, lowdown, self-serving, scumbag named Kiffin. Not that anyone cares, but if they do re-hire that POS I'm done with UT till he's gone.
I will never forget what that asshat did and will never welcome him or his ilk back to UT.
JMHO your mileage may vary.

In the end regardless of the head coach you need a great OC and a great DC. These days those are at least million dollar jobs so I'm hoping they are not stretching their budget to thin here. Any good negotiator would start at like 5 million and work their way up. You don't throw out your top price immediately.

Gundy would be a great hire after this mess. We need to get behind the hire regardless after this weekend. They all beat Schiano.

Why are some of you so concerned over what we pay Gundy if he comes? Are YOU paying his salary? All things considered, if this is what it takes to get a quality coach in here, then this is what it takes! If we were prepared to belly up to the bar for a 300+ million dollar stadium renovation, investing 8 million a year for a coach that can come in here and win is a damn good investment.

I don't care if we've got to pay Gundy 12.5 mil a year.

Currie better be in there with no holes barred and told not to come back to K-Town until Gundy has signed on the dotted... line.

After this weekend Gundy would be a grand slam and was the first choice on my list from day one.

I'll believe it, when I see it.

I think it's funny that fans complained before about UT not willing to spend money to now complaining about spending too much money.

At this point I don't really care about the cost. Gundy would be a long-term solution here. At this point, it would be huge for our program. Spend the money

Who cares what they money is? It's not like it's your money. When you dick the dog like we have for the last 10 years, you are going to have to overpay to get someone good. It is our dumb tax.

TheyĀ’ve gone from making nothing public to making too much public

ThatĀ’s because they knew if they made it public from day one that they had decided on schiano before butch was fired, then haslam wouldnĀ’t get hisguy like he thought he was by keeping it all closed door and only bey few knew.

Gundy is not worth 8.4MM. This is insane. I'd rather have Norvell for half price, Kiffin as OC and Steele as DC at 1.5MM each.

I'd rather see two scenarios happen. Take 8.4 million, give 3 million per year (work in incentives) to Kiffin and the remaining to him to build a staff.

OR

Give Les 3 million per year, Tee as OC/HCIW at 1 million per year and fill out rest of staff up to 9-10 million all in.

8.4 for Gundy is truly absurd.

He'd certainly be overpaid, but it wouldn't be crazy. I think Mullen at 6M is worse

Gundy is much better IMO

I doubt we have much a choice at this point; weĀ’re desperate and everyone knows it so likely we overpay pretty much anyone we bring in.

I still don't know why we couldn't offer that to Patterson or Shaw. Would they not listen to that kind of cash?

Why do people care about the salary? We don't pay it. And Gundy's a hell of a coach. Can't go cheap in this market, especially with all of the openings.

Tennessee went after Gundy in 2012 and was rebuffed and T. Boone Pickens will be hard to beat for Gundy's services.

T. Boone Pickens is a businessman, and he knows that $8+ million for Mike freaking Gundy is bad business. I'm sure he'll tell Gundy that if he can get 8 mil at Tennessee, to go and get it and good luck.

Yep. If they hire him for 8.4M he will be on an extremely short leash from the fans. He will be expected to win big and immediately.

Everyone's entitled to one mistake. OK he shoulda stayed at UT. HE knows that now. In today's College Football Climate; you need his Bravado. Especially in the SEC and East. Hope you haven't screwed up any of your decisions.
