Done. My email.
Mr. Golden,
There is nothing that can be said that already hasnt been addressed. There is not much hope that anything I say can, or will, have any smidgen of a chance of reverberating and causing change. Honestly. I have very little faith that this email will ever be read.
However, I would not be true to the greatest college mascot and namesake as a Tennessee Mounted Volunteer, as someone who now views the death of our Athletic Department to that of Davy Crockett and not stand up and say something. As was then, a call to arms is necessary, and I think you would agree the call for action has been more than anticipated during this fallout.
I was born in Knoxville, my family has generations of Tennessee graduates, I am an Alum, who paid for my degrees with no help from any grant or loan. My investment, and that of my family, and as graduates of this institution, should be allowed and further, to have the right, to voice our displeasure with what has occurred.
Athletic Director Currie needs to held to a higher standard than most, and to not have him answer publicly, with details concerning this coaching search and how under the cover of darkness at the 11th hour tried to hire who he did, is a reprehensible offense to many VOLS out here.
There is no reason for him to not have to be held to the standard to which he was hired, and professed, to being held to.
I truly hope that anyone who was complicit in the actions is also held accountable. I, my family, and many, if not the majority, of TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS do not accept this man as our Athletic Director, and truly wish that the powers that be understand just how disappointed and frustrated we are with him, and the University as a whole.
If something isnt done to either address this situation head on and publicly, or end in a resignation or termination, that we must consider our own personal choices with our time and money and as to how we will keep donating and funding this University.
