If that is true, that is the story that needs to come out! If you don't want to tell us, call Hargis. You know journalists protect their sources. But keeping it to yourself helps no one! And actually hurts everyone because it does not matter that we believe you, it matters that most everyone else does not and until the truth is out nothing will change. Same goes for Atlanta, Exile, Beaver, RockyTopSC, DTO and whoever else knows something!

I agree.

Hell, give it to me and I'll stand in the middle of campus broadcasting it like the middle age town crier. idgaf

How much would we pay in damages if you had to estimate on what the average contract would be?

There never was a MOU between Gruden and UT, so the whole exercise goes out the window.

At best (and I don't believe this), maybe Gruden agreed with some boosters what it would take for him to accept. But, that most likely would not be binding on UT.

Now, Schiano might make these claims of detrimental reliance when UT hires a different coach.

That's great but Currie needs gone yesterday and every moment he's still AD we are worse off.

I, truly, don't know what's going to happen with Currie. I've been saying since this happened that there's no way he gets fired, he would have to step down... Time will tell but I don't think it's as impossible as I once thought.

Our voices have been heard. Everyone's banding together like never before. More will be involved in this search going forward. And most importantly, our fan bases opinions are actually being considered. This was the wakeup call, we so desperately needed!

I’d like to believe but you were on here defending the Haslam’s in all of this. This sounds like kumbaya garbage to make the masses feel better about getting screwed again by the House of Haslam.

Is Curry going to be fired, or possibly going to resign? He's lost all credibility and respect.

By extending an offer and signing an MOU with Schiano, Currie effectively repudiated any other prior agreements that may have been signed. If a party to a prior agreement took action to his own detriment in reliance on that prior agreement, he could sue. If extending the offer to Schiano was fraudulent, then treble or punitive damages could be recovered.

Example: I live and work in FL, knuck lives and works in TN. I offer knuck a job working with me in FL, and he signs an agreement to do that. And then he also quits his job in TN and moves to FL. When he gets here, he finds out that I've already offered the job to someone else, and signed another agreent with that person.

In my example, knuck has no obligations to me. He owes me nothing based on his signature, because I repudiated that agreement by trying to hire someone else. In addition, knuck can sue me for fraudulently inducing him into signing an agreement and then quitting his job and moving to FL. Quitting and moving is called "detrimental reliance," he relies on my promise to his detriment. He can sue me for defrauding him and ask for an award of treble (3x) or punitive damages.

Sorry for the law school lesson. :)

It would be interesting to know whether Gruden gave a formal resignation to ESPN......

I was referring to Schianos side trying to get money out of the MOU agreement

It’s funny people come in here and don’t understand why we’re still here and I can’t understand how people are putting together Kiffins staff.

I just want to scream wake up!!! This is so much bigger than just the coach but it would just fall on deaf ears.

This is my fear....we have this moment of clarity and coming together only to have it fall apart because we’re worried about a coach and not the cancer.

your last part is what I though of. since you are or were a lawyer, what do you think about that?

Jackson, I feel the same way, I just think that a total housecleaning of the current leadership would have to occur before he would come at this point. And I don't know how likely that is.

I'm honestly at the point where I cannot generate any enthusiasm for any other name that would consider us.

Bottom line until Currie is gone and somebody at UT has the Gonads to tell Haslam that Tennessee will make it's own hires and decisions this is going to continue. GOOD FREAKING grief why can't people at UT look at his failure in Cleveland and what his influence in all decisions at UT has got us. Donating is one thing, but he has been doing it so long he has come to the belief it's his University. It's not his University he has donated money and lots of it over a long period of time, but enough is enough. Are people at UT willing to throw their biggest cash cow out the window, are the folks making these moves so arrogant that their egos will not let them do what is right for UT? I think most have formed a pretty good opinion of that. If the ones at UT that won't real change won't fight now, it will probably never happen. If Currie is allowed to continue on and Haslam gets to keep calling the shots within the AD I will never be back until they are GONE. If they are willing to lose millions for the sake of their ego's I am willing to watch them burn down a historic great place. I have to believe and pray that some that can will fight to the bloody end. They would have virtually the entire fan base in their corner and it would get down. But will they try? If they think it's going to blow over they are very very wrong. That's all.

Exactly. I think that becomes the most interesting and damning indictment of how this has been handled and becomes a very big story. Not sure if right now is the time/place, but it may become a last-ditch effort if incompetence is allowed to remain in power.

As if they wouldnt bash us if we did hire the bum . this is a lose lose situation for everyone .

Edit. However I agree with the protest of this hire. Why hire a coach that would have to answer questions about witnessing child molestation at the first presser?

We would be bashed either way. The problem is at the top.....a good coaching hire should be about 3rd or 4th on the list. We got some more heads that need to roll first.
Exactly. If we hired Schiano they'd be talking about the allegations with PSU...and/or how we settled for some lame mid level coach etc etc.

Wut? What’s wrong with it is that they will replace Currie with another yes man.

Haslam muscled Currie in as AD and he will sacrifice him when needed. Currie will get paid millions and ride off in the sunset. That’s how this always works.

Arya, I really hope you're wrong. The Haslams are the most hated men in Tennessee right now. I hope the stage is set for reform in the way things are done. Wishful thinking, I know - but I've got to have some sense of hope that I can be proud of my school again. I probably shouldn't attach so much importance to the damn place, but I just can't help it.

your last part is what I though of. since you are or were a lawyer, what do you think about that?

It depends on how long he believed the job was his, was his belief reasonable, did he turn down other opportunities, did he hire a moving company, etc.

UT could have some exposure.

Bull. This whole thing that went down with Schiano had absolutely nothing to do with his past. The truth is that Tennessee fans didn't want him because we felt as though he was not a good enough of a coach to coach Tennessee. And that is probably true. That is why fans revolted. We were angry because it wasn't Gruden, Petersen, Patterson, etc. I have no problem saying, "We don't think GS is good enough of a coach for Tennessee," but to make all of this about an issue that you and I have absolutely no clue about and every court/lawyer/person involved has given passing remarks to GS in regards to this issue is shameful. Let's not make ourselves out to be heroes on some moral high ground when all it really was was that we wanted a better coach.

I damn guarantee you I and 90% of the people I know lost their mind over this based on any potential link to the filth that went down at Penn State.

Perception is reality. If there is a 1% chance he actually knew about what was going on and did not immediately report it, there is no way he should be representing UT. Hell, take that away and even if you do not have issue with a link to Penn State, you can't really believe that other schools would not use this against us in recruiting.

We're Tennessee by God.... our standard was set by Neyland and Summitt not the crap these ego driven, carpet bagging AD clowns have tried to pass off on us over the last 10yrs.

Be Safe,

CH_V
