Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

Theory 1:
  • There were reports PM and a few others approved the Schiano hire (cannot confirm or deny truth to that rumor).
  • If true, does this set up Currie to be the fall guy? Hard to think they would torch his career over this, but wouldn't be surprised the other way, either.
  • This sets the stage to get Blackburn in at AD asap.
  • With Blackburn in, Gruden can be announced.
  • This is the only theory I can rationalize if Gruden did indeed already sign an MOU. I have a hard time rationalizing this, though, but otherwise wouldn't Gruden have legal rights to sue UT as well?

Theory 2:
Currie is an incompetent arse and Big Jim's puppet to do as he sees fit, and nothing really makes sense.

Probably too much speculation on the first theory, but if Gruden signed an MOU then there may be repercussions, depending on who else signed it. Or, it never happened, which is just as likely lol.

At this point us fans shouldn't accept anything less than gruden. The utad has made us look like idiots that we actually thought gruden was possible. We shouldn't allow these people to make us accept less, the latest fiasco shows us what they think of us, we should make them make gruden say no 10 times before we stop protesting any other hire.

Have we not had the consolation prize long enough?

Never going to happen with Haslam in charge of the AD. Replace the AD with Fulmer and it can be done. Email AND call DiPietro and demand Currie and Davenport be fired immediately. We have to keep the pressure on.

Thanks but not worried about him. Anyone coming in here trying to call me out after the **** show yesterday is just sad. It's not about me or exile or anyone else. It's about the program. Not going to lie, but I was told of some disgusting news tonight. I cannot and will not repeat. It has really hit me how bad the AD is, worse than I thought. I was very optimistic earlier. Now just here. Like Parker said, don't let up tomorrow. Keep it going. I told someone earlier I wish I never said 100% because of Haslam. I take it back. I am glad I said it, it was true and factual. Gruden signed and was going to be our next coach. How it went down is just depressing heartbreaking for so many people, the town, and region. With that I am going to sleep.

Keep it between the ditches y'all

Damn this is indeed a dark day.

Say it ain't so Knuck...

Beaver has already pretty much said that Currie botched the Gruden thing

I've emailed 3 people and called 3 times.

I honestly don't know if anything will work unless it's political.

I’m not calling you out but come on man. I don’t think anyone intentionally lied to anyone but maybe your sources suck. Gruden never signed anything. If that happened and was legit it would be a story by now. Like Gruden or a booster or someone at the signing wouldn’t take that and run with it. It would be plastered everywhere and neyland would be ashes right now.

Go on...

Cryptic-ness is so 3 weeks ago!

Our voices have been heard. Everyone's banding together like never before. More will be involved in this search going forward. And most importantly, our fan bases opinions are actually being considered. This was the wakeup call, we so desperately needed!

Actually I think they will just fix the “leak”, hire the coach, then trot him out there so that no one can do anything about it.

If it wasn’t for the leak, they would have gotten away with it.

These guys don’t learn. They just double down on stupid.

This is my suspicion as well...I feel sorry for the one who "leaked". He/she will be silenced.

To think, just a week ago we couldn't keep our Grud-ons down....Now well..
.here we are, don't forget to turn the lights off boys.

That's great but Currie needs gone yesterday and every moment he's still AD we are worse off.

Unfortunately for us Haslam owns everyone from the Gov mansion, the BOT, the UT President, the Chancellor, the AD, and everyone in between. The Gov will be the next UT President.

Sexton owns all the potential clients (and UT).

This is all extremely dirty. I have no faith that this can be fixed. Who do you appeal to?

Probably the only chance UT has is for one of the execs at Pilot to sing during the investigation. I hate to be so pessimistic, but if you see another way out Id like to hear it.

One of the Pilot execs sang in court today. Pointed the finger straight at Haslam.

Theory 2:
Currie is an incompetent arse and Big Jim's puppet to do as he sees fit, and nothing really makes sense.

By extending an offer and signing an MOU with Schiano, Currie effectively repudiated any other prior agreements that may have been signed. If a party to a prior agreement took action to his own detriment in reliance on that prior agreement, he could sue. If extending the offer to Schiano was fraudulent, then treble or punitive damages could be recovered.

Example: I live and work in FL, knuck lives and works in TN. I offer knuck a job working with me in FL, and he signs an agreement to do that. And then he also quits his job in TN and moves to FL. When he gets here, he finds out that I've already offered the job to someone else, and signed another agreent with that person.

In my example, knuck has no obligations to me. He owes me nothing based on his signature, because I repudiated that agreement by trying to hire someone else. In addition, knuck can sue me for fraudulently inducing him into signing an agreement and then quitting his job and moving to FL. Quitting and moving is called "detrimental reliance," he relies on my promise to his detriment. He can sue me for defrauding him and ask for an award of treble (3x) or punitive damages.

Sorry for the law school lesson. :)

I hate to say it, and I thought everyone would understand this by now...

Gruden was the smokescreen set up by Currie, Haslams, etc. His name was out there as a procedural move and the grumors provided the perfect cover for Currie to perform this covert operation without his own co-workers knowing.

Also, any insider who thinks Gruden was truly a signed/done deal is wrong. Even near the end, AV said that there was an option 2. No MOU or contract was signed with Gruden. Period. Purely a strategic move, a brilliant one that fooled many people in high places.

We know this, Knuck. I just cannot tolerate someone coming in here and putting another person down who has been active, honest, and shared the information they were given. They can take their a$$e$ to a different place. Believe if you want, but if not...well...GTFO. That’s how I see it. I appreciate you and your compassion for UT!

I hope they heard the name Gruden because anyone else will be a let down.
