Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLVII

National Media 2013:

“Greg Schiano is not only a mediocre football coach but he is also a slightly bad human being. Schianos players hated him and they said playing for him was like playing for communist cuba.”

National Media 2017:

“Greg Schiano is not only one of the best football coaches on the planet but he is also one of the best human beings ever. UT should be ashamed in themselves for not wanting a great HC.”

(Not real quotes for the people that can’t read sarcasm)

And before we were pushing him out they were all snickering about how TN screwed up another hire. Laughing stock either way. Glad we took the power back.

Thanks for the info. So are people holding the haslams accountable?

I don't think anyone can hold them accountable. They write the checks, they call the shots.

I think it was Kingston who said our only hope is to succeed in spite of them. We have to hope we stumble into what turns out to be a great hire.

Why none of those names? Money talks, why are we being so cheap? If nobody of that puny ilk will listen to us no matter what we offer, then the Haslams have already killed UT football.

They will listen if we offer the right money that's one of the biggest problems overall. I have no confidence they will do what is necessary to pull any of those names. Maybe that's just my opinion given what I believe to be true right now.

Talked to someone today and the AD is a freaking mess. Finger pointing and wondering what is going to happen next. Scrambling to make a hire and decide who it's going to be they target. Cut will be the first contacted I believe.

At this point if they can sign Brohm they probably should.

If they officially offer Tee the head spot he will take it. He would be crazy not to but his experience is thin for my taste but I would take it at this point.

I really do not think Cut is a possibility. If he were that's where I would go and throw a huge raise to Tee and beg him to come be OC and HC in waiting. Of course this is unlikely to happen because no one I know think Cut is a real possibility. He, and more importantly his wife, are very happy at Duke plus can Currie really hire him being the one who was responsible for his departure? I DO NOT see Curie having the ability to pull this off.

I do not see us hiring any of the top names being thrown around (Venables, Cut, Strong, Miles or even Pruitt)

All things considered I think Tee probably gets his shot and I am ok with it. Not "thrilled" but there is always the "what if?". He could kill it if he has Fulmer to be his tutor and VFls get involved. It's probably our best shot at this point.

Lastly the Haslams are going to kill Tennessee football if not stopped.

Sorry for the long post been in meetings all day and haven't been able to keep up on here.

I believe nothing but the second to last sentence of this.

If we ever hire a new coach, I'm going to do an x and o podcast breaking down the offense and defense they ran at their last stop.

If it goes well, I'm going to do weekly breakdowns. I wanted to do this in the past and spoke to freak about it, but I just couldn't find time when I was coaching. Now that I'm no longer coaching, I'm excited about this

Hubbs said he’s not sure we are off the hook financially though.

I've read articles quoting legal experts who say an MOU is only enforceable if signed by all required parties. The required part depends on the wording of the MOU. Our past few, Including the one for Barnes, required 4, including hers.

Brent probably just playing it safe until 100% sure we are off the hook

How was Currie responsible for his departure? He left here twice on his own. His departure is probably what cost Fulmer his job.

Looking forward to it dude!

I don't think they'll listen. I'm amazed Brohm is still taking our calls.

I got some flack for this but this job wasn't that attractive before the Schiano debacle. I think the attractiveness got cut in half afterward.

So that is it, we make this program one of the most profitable in all of CFB.. and they will not spend what it takes for a real coach...I hate them.

This is going to Tee IMO. Probably by lunch tomorrow.

I'll hope for the best, but this hire would make me really, really nervous.

USC fans don't like Tee and he's been a coordinator for just two seasons (and doesn't Helton run the offense?). He's also not coached under really elite coaches. Of course, Dooley coached under Saban and we see where that got us, so who knows...
