Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

I don't think there was ever an MOU with Gruden. I don't think anything more than a phone call ever happened with anyone representing the University and Gruden. I believe we expected an A level hire.

Currie should've killed the Gruden talk weeks ago. He trolled the entire fan base with fake flight plans and allowing Grumors to be kept alive.

I would loved to see Gruden, Frost, Kelly, or Kiffin. I wanted A list.

We only pay for A list buildings here and if the result of all this drama is a return to sound leadership then I'll be happy.

Wetzel quotes:

- Recap of deposition b/w State Penn and insurance over Sandusky
- “Double heresay, not admissible in court”
- Mcqueary was star witness, never publicly told the story (Schiano) again
- “If anyone thought they could’ve gotten Schiano over this, they would have; no corroborating evidence”
- “In being fair, due process, if you don’t want him as coach, fine, but to paint rock/put out on social media that he ‘covered up child rape’ is wrong”

Summary is Schiano was basically convicted of something he didn’t do because of social media. Just rehashing over and over.

EDIT: I clearly win the Jimmy award.

I feel like the media is forgetting that we would have to tell recruits parents that our head coach might be innocent of covering up a pedophile.

Yep, that would have gone over real well

I think its funny the morning crew was trashing the AD and then all of the sudden Josh brings on a turd who was bashing UT fans yesterday because of the Sh!tstorm. UT forcing WNML to say what makes them look better. pitiful

And this isn't a court of law.

The fact that slimeball Schiano is even mentioned in the same breath as the proud university I graduated from should be grounds for me to sue the school for damages.

I just dont get it. Whether we are saying he purposefully covered it up, or just didnt say anything are two totally different animals. However, in my mind they are both horrible acts, and not fitting of the integrity that I expect to see in a UT coach. But didnt McQueary testify under oath that Schiano told him he saw it happening? So it is either believe a guy that has had a reputation at Rutgers and Tampa bay of being a jerk, or believe a guy that was testifying under oath? I choose to believe the latter.

He took "owner of Casual Pint Northshore" off of his personal account at first.

Then he apologized with a copy/paste job on both personal and the Casual Pint NSH account.

Then he took his personal account private.

Then he deleted the Casual Pint NSH account.

Now he has deleted his personal account.

He's hoping it will go away.

Make sure it doesn't.

Give it a break.

Nope. That makes me less of a fan right? Nobody is gloating, we're all just tired of being hoodwinked by supposed "insiders" who are just looking for e-cred or attention.

From all reports including Atlanta Vol, Boosters were being lied to about the entire search.

I think it’s very possible our “insiders” were being told statements from boosters who honestly believed we had our man but Currie and Haslam were literally lying so they could sneak Schiano in

Why would he not be? Currie was doing what his boss (Haslem) told him to do. I can't see Haslem letting him be fired.

They control all the cards right now. From the Governor's mansion, to the BOT, the UT President, the Chancellor, and everything in between.

I like your optimism, but I don't see any place for it right now.

Haslam will hang Currie out to dry to save his own bacon. And if Currie sings, Haslam will just play it off because he is a disgruntled employee who had to be fired for doing a crappy job. And he will find a new lackey to do his bidding.

As has been stated before, if UT is to rise again, it will be without Haslam.

SIAP, I'm trying to work today.

AtlantaVol posting on "Boosters urging Currie to resign" thread:

I will offer the use of Mister Groo to Atlanta just in case he needed it (doubtful as the wallet says way more). But he can certainly use the message therein.

The cancer in athletic department is the Haslams, Currie and Davenport. Clean the house.

The Tennessee Legislature should commence an investigation of the athletic department using subpoena and search warrant powers.

And get the Governor involved....whoops oh wait

That's exactly what it makes you FANBOY. As someone who paid for my degrees out of my pocket and someone who has seen the demise of this university's academic reputation and seeing the horrors of this institution bleed into the athletics this is the wrong time to be playing lol games.

Aside from feeling like this was a scheme or all BS doesn't matter to me, what does is what is transpiring.

So, does it make you less of a fan, no, it makes your opinion concerning this University null and void as your fandom falls way short of the investment made by many others to this school.

My point is now is the wrong time to pull the Gruden concept or dream and calling people out on it, nothing personal to you man, not trying to be a di**.

I’ve called, emailed and tweeted the gang of 3 to voice my anger. We should all do the same. Preacherwebb has put up the contact info. Take action. And let Atlanta Vol take it to the boosters!

UTPaul, I'm not to sure what to think about you. Most of your posts are spot on but when you miss, oh boy.

Unless you embrace the Cas Walker approach to publicity as being "I don't care what they say about me as long as they spell my name right" then there becomes a point where too much publicity can be a bad thing. Case in point is no further away than John Currie. While everybody thought he was going to bring us the best coach possible he was a rock star. Not so much any more. Gruden has to know this.

I agree, it’s not a great approach, but it is an approach that could give one leverage if they’re trying to negotiate salaries, terms, roles, etc.

It has been said many times by many people on here and in the media; “Jon Gruden loves the attention”. He’s never going to shut it down because it’s great publicity for him. It’s in his best interest, if we’re looking at it strictly from a business standpoint, to let these “Grumors” continue to grow.

If you don’t think his agents telling him the same thing, you’re not thinking logically.

*Again, I’m not condoning this approach, just stating the obvious.*

In 2012 his agent did say there was zero interest .... from everything I am seeing and hearing I am unsure if Currie ever contacted Gruden .... I think Boosters did but still unsure about Currie

No, that is not correct. He said Schiano told someone who told him. Makes it second level hearsay and wouldn't hold up in any court.

At any rate the guy just isn't a very good football coach. And possibly even worse human being. Allegedly.

Hey Exile, any chance the paperwork from 11/14 was for GS and not JG?

I answered last night in the negative. I think LAVol1 summarized things just about perfectly in the last thread. I think the AD was running two "searches" at the same time and hoped to get the GS deal public first so that admin and boosters would feel they had to support it. I think this put the University in a terrible position with JG, who I am still convinced signed. If I'm JG, there's no way I come to work at UT while Currie and Haslam are involved. That's just me, FWIW.

Read about what his players in Tampa thought of him. That isn’t hearsay
