I don't get it either. If anything I've learned from all this is that Brent Hubbs is the only one we can trust to give us the real information. I'll never doubt Hubbs again.

The problem is he is a filter for our real problem. Haslam. I mean he’s smart business wise for doing so, but if He’s well connected to a mess, and this is, then he is following the rules. That means we don’t have a journalist giving an honest assessment of what’s going on, we have a prudent businessman trying to protect his access. You never hear critical thinking from Hyams or Hubbs regarding Haslam and this 20 year cluster fk we got going here. Overall Haslam and his influence tree is bad for this university. If political winds change, you will promptly see these guys turn with it. I would like to see some independence from Haslam in my consumption of news about our beloved UT

So has anyone heard what our next step is or are we going to have to wait until people quit playing grab ass in the AD?

Frost hasn't been hired, Campbell is still sitting there, Taggart, Leach, and others that are real coaches... Are we going to make a move or just roll over and go after someone like Pruitt who was never even a consideration? We still should have a lot of money to throw and strangely enough, if Currie wants to have some shot at keeping his job, he should be smart enough to know that if he pulls one of the names I listed, he may weather the storm and be somewhat forgiven after time passes... If he tries for another dip-'ish, then he gon.

If Currie is going to continue and make this hire(I don't think he is), then he absolutely doesn't need to make a statement on yesterday. He simply needs to make the hire, make a statement before introducing the new coach and exit stage. He simply can't win with anyone by making a statement now.

Pruitt would be fine.

The simple decision is to give the damn job to the last QB to win an SEC championship here and let him go to work on the recruiting trail. It really is very easy.

i still have zero faith that after yesterday they will make a decent hire this time. These guys are such a joke you just know its gonna be horrible.

I don't care where it's at. I want a winner who has won championships. He has sucked everywhere he has been minus OSU. Just making excuses for why he has sucked cause he was at Rutgers.

He hasn't been great at OSU. All the talent in the world and they got their asses handed to them by Clemson in the playoff and by Iowa and OU this year. His defense is crap vs decent teams.

Stephen Smith calling us idiots for ruining Schiano career with unfounded smears

Open to interpretation I suppose, but Hubbs' answer to 6 seemed to me lack a tacit endorsement of a Schiano hire.

6. I think he would have been a tough fit. He has a reputation of being hard to deal with and plenty in the athletic department were nervous about him. But I'm sure he has changed. Schiano is a tough hard nosed guy, but I don't think he's a bad coach.

This??

I'm not saying I disagree with Ergen's approach either. Altho he could out-muscle Haslam if he wanted to and help fix things.

Who knows if his opinions on football would be any better, really. And it's easy for me to sit here and play with other people's money.

Those are a dollar for dollar deduction on taxes for someone like him. Not saying it's not great deed and way above and beyond, but it's of great benefit to someone who owns a company of that size and any good CPA is going to tell him to make charitable donations to the tune of X per year and to buy real estate via an LLC so they can take depreciation against their income. These are ways the top 1% pay less in taxes. It pays for the Haslams to do this not just for tax deductions but it makes them THE booster in power pulling the strings. So I guess my hope is another large booster with same capabilities takes that slot. Someone with no history of running a bad football program like the Browns.

That’s not true re: tax deductions.

Yep ditto. And all the national writers trying to say this was just about not liking Schiano as a coach can EAD. Nothing short of a serious moral conflict like this could make me consider completely turning my back on the university I've been cheering for for decades and have two degrees from.

Hyams said this morning he thinks it was because we didn’t hire Gruden.... 🙄 yeah that’s it Jimmy, never mind the fact that a lot of the people that were up in arms about it didn’t even like Gruden. Oh but keep pushing that narrative that we were just pitching a fit.

You would think all of the local media would defend the fanbase more.

Maybe I'm not as smart as the guys leading the AD (though maybe I am after yesterday) but if we're going to turn to the unproven coordinator why not try and lure Venables or Foster away?

He needs to wrap up this hire today. If he wants to save face and limit the damage he needs to pay up and get the best coach out there.
