I don't get it either. If anything I've learned from all this is that Brent Hubbs is the only one we can trust to give us the real information. I'll never doubt Hubbs again.

Open to interpretation I suppose, but Hubbs' answer to 6 seemed to me lack a tacit endorsement of a Schiano hire.

Those are a dollar for dollar deduction on taxes for someone like him. Not saying it's not great deed and way above and beyond, but it's of great benefit to someone who owns a company of that size and any good CPA is going to tell him to make charitable donations to the tune of X per year and to buy real estate via an LLC so they can take depreciation against their income. These are ways the top 1% pay less in taxes. It pays for the Haslams to do this not just for tax deductions but it makes them THE booster in power pulling the strings. So I guess my hope is another large booster with same capabilities takes that slot. Someone with no history of running a bad football program like the Browns.

Gets it.

It's a couple of classes any of us could have taken in college - Marketing and Tax Accounting, people. What better marketing tool than to take advantage of the local people that helped you bootstrap a handful of convenience stores into an industry giant. Then you make sure it is fully covered in the media. You gain more business and brand allegiance with free advertising, so it washes out financially. Add in you know that the FBI investigation and charges are going to do some damage, so you better do something to help the image.

You get to promote about how you are helping communities nationally. You really are helping them. But the motive is less altruistic. We all know it would not have been done if there was no personal reward for doing it. Meanwhile you keep control of UT. That's the part I have not fully latched onto other than the tax angle and Bill's future landing spot (like Lamar). I can only guess that it is Big Jim's pet and he's still on this planet.

Great resume for a coordinator.

Heard he’s a complete dick but don’t know him so who knows

Same. Great Coach. have heard the rumors of him that are Kiffin style but can't really argue with his coaching ability and recruiting ability. He is more ready to be a HC than Tee is. Pruitt has worked under Saban, Fisher and Richt. Tee has worked under Rich Brooks, Joker, Kiffin and Helton.....

I'd probably prefer Tee only on that I think if you hire Pruitt some former players get all upset

How is Hubbs carrying water? Are you guys reading the same post I am?

I kept saying Hubbs knew for the past week. With him saying Schiano is surging is all you needed to know. He hedges it by not coming out and saying it's him because yes it could fall apart but it was going that way for the past week.

As of right now my top 3 is
Taggert
Venables
TM

Currie is quiet as a mouse because he knows his days are already numbered here. I bet he won't be the AD for much longer.

It’s really confusing how they are interpreting his responses as carrying water. I’m just dumbfounded.

I think maybe with the whole "we tested the waters with Mullen and Frost" thing... I don't think people buy that. I myself want to know why we weren't going full speed at these two-- I thought they and some other coaches said they were interested at one time-- if that's the case, then why didn't we go after them?

The Gruden thing is an excuse. It's a big easy target to say the fans are nuts. The truth is it was a small, vocal minority that thought Gruden could and would come here.

Eric Ainge said Peyton and Phil didn't know. I had a hard time wrapping my head around Peyton going all in on a guy who encouraged players to try to take his knees out.

I don't know about Fulmer's part, but I'm gonna trust Hyams and Hubbs on the Manning part. I certainly won't trust Ainge. I mean Manning did want Butch also.

That whole "Good father, husband" bit can be said about countless scum throughout history. It means nothing. Its a canned answer for defending somebody.

The whole "Good father, husband, coach" bit has also been said about scum, like Sandusky and Paterno.

Great points! You can put all the frosting on a turd you want but it's still a turd.

Exactly. Ergen is known to be a tight wad mf'er. Gives very little ****s about the university, and is getting up there in years so is unlikely to change.

If what Deerpark said is true, several key UT people personally flew out to Colorado to try to talk him into giving more money to the reno. And he said GTFO.

I wouldn't put too much stock inn what Deerpark says. He obviously has an agenda. Also, if you were a multi-billionaire, would you give more money to a university that is basically ran by another billionaire that is constantly effing everything up? I would tell them to GTFO too until you start running things the way they need to be run.

I'm guilty of putting too much trust in AV. Not again. Awesome person, but knew nothing about this coaching search. He said he was comfortable with the plan. You can't tell me that if the plan is Schiano.

Keep in mind I think the boosters were being led down a path that was a totally falsehood. They wanted their money without their input. If I were that level of booster I would tell them to keep their effing skybox. Until the university feels the pain of disgruntled fans and power boosters, they are going to side with Haslam.
The haslam mafia over there has got to stop.

I wish Manning would butt out of stuff. But now it appears that he's buddies with the Haslams.

I'm disappointed with Peyton as well. He's gonna take a hit on his reputation. The only way he can repair it is to get more involved and show he cares. If he's tight with the Haslams he needs to tell them they need to step aside.

.

68-67 as a college coach=nothing IMO.

Personally I was less concerned about his coaching resume than I was the recruiting and current team perception of the Sandusky thing and buccaneers stories.... it absolutely would have been used against us.... oh and that he is a insane version of Butch Jones. You don't hire the same guy x10 that you fired and destroyed the morale of the team

Currie is quiet as a mouse because he knows his days are already numbered here. I bet he won't be the AD for much longer.

thats true....hes probably incredibly embarrassed and he knows theres no way he can make it right. Theres no way to get out of this one. He should of thought ab that before he embarrassed the entire university even more.

Yep, not sure there’s a better coordinator, resume wise, out there. He’s only 43 as well.

Great recruiter. Great defensive coach.
