I want to wake up tomorrow to news of a noon press conference. At said press conference, I want it announced by the president that Currie has been fired and that Phil Fulmer will be the new athletic director. I then want to hear word that TN is in serious discussions with Tee Martin and see him hired before the end of the week.

This isn't hard.

Tee won't make it over 3-5 years. However, he ain't Schiano, let's roll.

If there's one sure bet on VolNation, it's that anytime someone gets mocked, insulted, or laughed at for posting something or suggesting an idea, they will be proven right a few weeks or months later. And they'll make sure everyone knows about it.

This fan base deserves better than the s**t sandwhich we are forced to eat year in and year out. We aren’t Miami. We fill Neyland and rally behind s**ty coaches. We support the team when everyone in the country s**ts in us. We tell ourselves and each other that it is going to get better but it never does. The past 10 years has been the literal definition of insanity. Hire s**ty coach, support him, he fails, fire him, hope for a good coach, get another s**ty coach wash, rinse, repeat.

Hate to say this, but the best thing to wish for is to wake up to news that the FBI is hauling Big Jim and Jimmy off to the big house (and I don't mean Ann Arbor, but that would be okay too).

Would seemingly fix a lot of problems.

Tee has USC at #27 scoring offense and #13 total offense.

Let’s get him with a good staff and ride. 3.5-4 mil/year. Fulmer would be around as a mentor. Could have all the money he needs for assistants.

TN chose Dooley in 2010 without assistance. Vandy picked James Franklin in 2011 with the assistance of a search firm. Perhaps Currie might have made a better selection if he’d gotten some help. This latest fiasco almost guarantees we take an unproven HC and hope for the best. I just hope Currie is gone and that someone else makes that decision.

Blackburn is unemployed isn't he?

There’s just no way for Currie to come back from this. He basically has two options:

1. Say that a certain booster forced his hand. This makes him look like a b!tch and he’s basically throwing a big donor under the bus. Not a smart move.

2. Say that he thought Schiano was the man for the job. He proves he’s an idiot, but at least this way, he owns his mistake.

Either way, I can’t see Currie lasting much longer. I’d imagine they will want to hire a new AD before they hire a new coach. Which means they’ll want to get a new AD as soon as possible. So if Currie is going to get fired, I expect him to get fired tomorrow.

Schiano was the #1 candidate? Wow.

This is worse than I thought it could ever get.

Currie needs to pack his stuff.

Sadly, I don't see a lot changing in the future until Haslam is told to kick rocks.

I cant believe as a fan base that we will allow politicians to dictate our wishes and make a mockery of our beloved VOLS! What a shame.

I think we are stuck in a no man's land where guys who know they aren't going to win over the fanbase immediately will stay home. They don't want to walk into a hornet's nest. And more proven hires will be wary as well. We will probably end up overpaying out the ass for someone.

Exactly. Nobody wants to hear it from me, but this is a legit concern — especially after today, but even before today.

Absolutely. This could be a blessing in disguise. Risky yes, but what if it works? Could save us

Bass was the butt of every joke from the end of September up to today. If anyone deserves a few "I told you so"s, it's him.

Haha

Schiano had no buyout before today. Lucky for him John Currie loves giving away cash.

I was so excited to wake up and finally feel like we were “back” again. Hearing all these big names, thinking we would be pissed to get a Mullen. Then I see the news on ESPN and my heart sank. I can’t beleive how it could of got any worse but it did. We are a passionate fan base, sometimes bad but it shows how much we care. And today we cared so much that we literally made the football world stop and actually controlled our destiny in that moment. We ARE the BEST fan base. We may be down for a year or so but at least we know how strong we are. Eventually we will be back and I can’t wait for that day. GBFO!

Amen and Hallelujah! And we have no way to voice our displeasure at the real culprits who hide in their marble towers.
