Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLVII

This is the email I sent to Mr. Currie today.

I am a donor who is not on your radar. I have suffered thru many games this year but still loved instilling the pride of being a Tennessee Volunteer to my eleven year old son. We have created many memories over the last few years going to games even to the one in Tuscaloosa this year for our first man’s only weekend. Ribs and steak and Vols football despite the beat down we took in Bryant-Denny.

If you decide to hire someone who was on staff for over five years with Sandusky the convicted child abuser, then we will get rid of everything Tennessee in our home and support another program from my original home of Atlanta with our time and dollars which was over $blank space this year.

You will have taken away something that has helped a father and son to bond and create memories for a lifetime. I will actually never be able to forgive you or the University for having done so. Please hire anyone other than someone I will have to one day explain to my son why we supported this guy when he hears about it at school or somewhere else one day. Please change this decision if it has been made or we will take our time, money and energy to support the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Siap, this is how you do it.

Schiano has been the defensive coordinator for Ohio State for the past two seasons, after posting seasons of 7-9 and 4-12 with the Bucs in 2012 and 2013. The 51-year-old New Jersey native went 3-20 in his first two seasons running the long-downtrodden Rutgers program, but he ended up posting a*68-67 record overall in 11 seasons,*including a 5-1 record in bowl games.

What part of this resume is impressive?

I am starting to get the sinking feeling that things are only going to get worse...much, much worse. I feel like our fanbase’s explosion today is going to be shot back at us in full force by national media and everyone else.

Well, at least /sp/ seems to mostly be on our side.

I'm concerned that this is going to break us like the protests broke Missouri.

I don't feel that Vol Twitter was in the wrong here. But I do feel the consequences could be dire.

always swinging low... I really don't think you are a UT fan ...

Campbell- pay the stupid buyout
Frost- wait till the season ends and then throw stupid money.

Dude BV is one of the best recruiters and defensive minds in the country. He’s turned down like 5 power 5 jobs.

This has appropriately been named The Volshevik Revolution. November 26th shall be a day that none of us forget. The people of Tennessee finally rose up against our oppressive masters that continually stole our money and force fed us a garbage product for over a decade. We were shamed by the national media for demanding better but our voices drowned even them out. Today was a victory but we must press on! Go. Big. F***ing. Orange.

100% agree. Terrible hire on all fronts

Every school but us is competent.

Anybody else seeing these reports of Currie being fired? Any real legs to this? Just some twitter stuff right now

An F Jon Gruden for trolling us the way he did. Gruden bringing up RockyTop on that Seattle radio show comes to mind. You don't do that to a University you allegedly love. F him.

I am with you. I hate that idiot turd and hope him and his ugly hick wife get run out of Knoxville. We see him at a game again then we need to punch him in the mouth.

Unpopular opinion forthcoming.

I do not nor did not at anytime want Greg Schiano as our football coach. That is because of on and off field things that I have serious concerns about. I don’t believe him to be a fit or someone I want representing the University of Tennessee.

That being said, the way his name and character over the Penn State stuff have been portrayed today is not right. Those people who jump on other people for not immediately calling Schiano someone who “covers up child rape” or “enables sexual predators” is wrong and shameful. It’s the world we live in today though. We hear something and just run with it.

Reading up on stuff the last hour or so, I don’t believe Schiano had any knowledge and was not even at Penn State at the time these horrendous things were going on. I don’t think any reasonable person would think different, either. It’s just not logical when presented with the facts and knowledge surrounding the case.

Hate Schiano because he’s not a good enough football coach to represent our university. Hate him because he’s a douchebag to his players. Hate him because he’s an apparent egomaniac that rubs people the wrong way. But hating him over the Penn State stuff and saying he enables child molesters is bull**** though. It’s just not reasonable to believe. It’s the “twitter mob” mentality we have as a society today and it’s wrong. No one deserves that.

Rant over. Flame away (and probably now call me a supporter of child molestation for whatever reason)

Schiano does it again - NFL Videos

This is his character, so excuse me for not believing him.

Still plenty of room on the Will Healy boat if you boys wanna join.

Man, if that dude had just a little bit more experience I would be all in. Maybe in three years when whatever underwhelming hire we make this time gets fired.

It's my opinion that this was a faux search from the beginning. I didn't see it while it was happening as some others did but I've come to that conclusion now. Thamel gave it up when he wrote in his original "Schiano is hired" piece when he said that Currie kept in regular contact with Schiano when he was at KSU.

I don't think the Gruden offer ever happened, I think Mullen was interested but we never met, I think Campbell wanted the job but Currie went into those negotiations knowing he wouldn't budge on the buyout - just so he'd have justification for hiring the guy he wanted.

I think you’re right. And I bet Gruden wasn’t trolling the fan base. I bet he genuinely wanted the job but DA Currie never offered.

We're not throwing stupid money anymore. The Schiano "buyout" on top of Butch is the cause. It also doesn't help the fact that the media is pushing a negative narrative for UT.

I know it's satirical, but I don't like being associated with the Bolsheviks.

So people are grilling me for setting my wishlist with 3 Coordinators (Arranda, VenAbles, Tee)...
But have been telling Me Georgia is gonna be scary for years to come after literally hiring a coordinator with no HC experience.
