That’s bad logic. Rams are really regretting hiring Mcvay same with the bills and McDermott. Georgia with Kirby Smart...

NFL?

Like I said, could end up great but not in a position to take that gamble when there are good candidates out there.

Also, I said the list was horrible not that they would be horrible hires.

Currie put us behind the 8 ball on the coaching search with this stunt. The lackadaisical approach to hiring the face of Tennessee football will cost us another Dooley type season or two.

Sorry for buying the Grumors and pushing it so hard here guys. My bad. All of this sucks. Still can’t believe what has unfolded today. Hopefully it works out in the end.

:hi:

Dude I had been sitting in my car in the driveway for 20 minutes texting with friends, feeling bad. Thinking about how can I shop for another team when I graduated from UT. Then I read your post about waiting for the podium and I got out of my car and finished cleaning the leaves off the lawn and when I was done the Schiano hire was no more and my misery is at least abated until we actually hire someone. So hold your head high and realize you did something positive today!!

While I’m glad Schiano is not coming we are fools if we don’t think that episode severely damaged our ability to hire someone without Tennessee ties. Clear the national media has never understood Tennessee and even in this, they wrongly attribute the protests to fans being upset about not getting a coach they wanted. But their opinion holds much sway and this job looks even more toxic now.

Need an all Tennessee staff.

A part of me says BS? Where were the protesters, Twitter outrage for the bush money spent on title 9 events.

Ask yourself, if Gruden, Saban has been mentioned in that article but not found guilty would there have been an outrage?

They don’t care about winning. Everyone over there is worried about their own personal interests. Blackburn was the easiest hire ever but he wasn’t ever gonna be Haslam’s puppet so he got ghosted.

Maybe my rants are when I’m on to something. Butch vs Florida in 2015, lack of DT depth summer 2016, hiring Currie as AD over DB, Currie going to the bahamas during a coaching search.

Next rant.... haslams have got to go.

I've repeatedly said my source has given me zero information. Don't know whether he's just not sharing or if he legitimately doesn't know anything. The only piece of info he shared early on, right after the GA game, was when I asked him if Gruden or another major hire would occur. His response, "If Big Jim will get out of the way." Well it's painfully obvious Big Jim didn't get out of the way.

I honestly think the best thing for this university..
Fulmer as HC
Chavis DC (now available)
Randy Sanders OC (soon to be fired)
Dan brooks DL (retired in seveirville)

And then fill in the rest. Ride that and stabilize the program for 3-5 years.

Best thing for the university is to do whatever it takes to hire Scott Frost. Pay him 7 mil a year. Who gives a damn.

Dude you got nothing to apologize for.

Even as skeptical as I am, Grumors (and Petersen/Patterson/Harbaugh rumors) were the only thing that gave a lot of us hope. You just kept the faith and reported what was said, not push some lies like a lot of "insiders" do.

Whether you believe he’s innocent or not, you don’t KNOW he is and it was a terrible idea to try and hire him.

Again we went on record and said “no search firm.” And on record talking about integrity. This guy was untouchable as a head coach for us and Currie should have known better. It was a terrible hire and the guy wasn’t worth the baggage he would bring.

Spare me the crap about the fan base. We shouldn’t have been put in this spot. We were about to hire on the cheap again and one that would come with heavy scrutiny. Not to mention there are articles everywhere about this guys reputation.

So Sandusky had many many accusers and the first incident happened in 1998 and Greg Schiano left Penn state in 1995.....................

What an awful thing we did today. Just shameful.

I’ve put up with your trolling for years but this is the last straw. That’s not the case and your immature trolling is pitiful. Get a life.

Ron, no need to apologize as we all know your heart was right and really wanted what was best for our VOLS!!! This is a mess beyond any of us thought would happen. I'm not sure what is going on but somehow we can't get out of our own way!!! Keep the faith brother as hopefully this to shall pass!! Maybe we'll just fall into a good hire by dumb luck!!! :eek:k::good!:

It's my opinion that this was a faux search from the beginning. I didn't see it while it was happening as some others did but I've come to that conclusion now. Thamel gave it up when he wrote in his original "Schiano is hired" piece when he said that Currie kept in regular contact with Schiano when he was at KSU.

I don't think the Gruden offer ever happened, I think Mullen was interested but we never met, I think Campbell wanted the job but Currie went into those negotiations knowing he wouldn't budge on the buyout - just so he'd have justification for hiring the guy he wanted.

I was looking at Currie’s twitter about a week ago and noticed he and Schiano followed one another. It was from his Rugter days, but when he started to be named as a candidate it had me worried.

And just think Currie wasn't doing jack **** in the Bahamas cause he had Schiano and thought he had it made. If he didn't have Schiano while there he is the worst Ad in football.

Nobody will take this job. This is a disaster the magnitude of which cannot be overstated.

Still shaking my head at the Grudenites. Take a lap, all of you. We should have spent the last two weeks discussing real candidates.

I could be wrong but everything I’ve read says 1998.

Can you provide the 1994 charges? TIA

1994

A boy identified as Victim 7 in the grand jury report meets Sandusky through the Second Mile program. Now 26, Victim 7 says that after a couple of years in the program, he often spent Friday nights at Sandusky's house and attended football games with him the next day. He says Sandusky touched him in ways that made him uncomfortable, primarily during car rides and when the two showered after a workout.

I totally agree, and VOLS players would be onboard..

Still plenty of room on the Will Healy boat if you boys wanna join.

At this point I'd be open to taking a big gamble on a young, unproven guy with tons of potential. Win big or lose big, either way it would be an interesting ride.
