Smh. I have a friend that is a south carolina fan who keeps saying we as a fanbase are dumb. He gives no other reasoning besides him saying schiano is a good coach.

Schiano was 68-67 at Rutgers
A failed NFL coach
An arrogant donkey and some of his former players didnt like him.
He made many enemies in the NFL
He was part of a huge child sex scandal cover up.

Can someone tell me what I'm missing?

Well, being anywhere near a competent NFL coach is fairly impressive. Coaching Rutgers to a winning record is also a notch on his belt.

I am not overly impressed with what he has done at Ohio State. Nor does anything else about him sound worth a flip.

Who knows if he would have been a good coach here? He wouldn't have been in my top 8 or 10. However, the Penn State situation just puts it into the twilight zone.

If Peyton was on board they should have been ready to use that publicly this AM. Also Phil. If Phil and Peyton would have been telling us that the PSU stuff was no big deal and we should be on-board then it would have gone a long way with people (me included). But that isn’t what we got. We got a rumor about a man aledged to have been a witness to something horrible and he did nothing. And we got pissed. Unbelievably terrible marketing job by Currie.

But when you want to be an information ninja you better be right or you look like an idiot.

They are all trolls. We have tried to tell you.

Don't forget Hubbs and LWS had people they trust tell them that Gruden was a real possibility and was almost a done deal. Now maybe the FF Gruden "insiders" were trolls, but that doesn't mean Gruden wasn't really in play.

This, I completely agree with. However, it's extremely sad to see some posters on here trashing the guy for "covering up child rape" and other such attacks.

It’s just simple emotional bias.

They don’t want Schiano to be coach, so the hearsay about him must be true.

AJ Johnson was an awesome player, so the accusations against him aren’t.

And before someone lambasts me. I’m very much against a Schiano hire. Read JAVE’s post, we 100% agree.

I've never seen anything like this in my life. Only at Tennessee. If Currie isn't fired we're in trouble. How can anyone trust this clown to make a good hire now? We are in desparate need of leadership. This all started when we started weeding Tennessee people out of here. The only thing that's going to get us back, is hiring Tennessee people back.

He would have been absolutely dead in the water recruiting here. The PSU stuff doesn't stick as much when he's just a coordinator. But as head coach? He's toast. Especially in the South.

While I’m glad Schiano is not coming we are fools if we don’t think that episode severely damaged our ability to hire someone without Tennessee ties. Clear the national media has never understood Tennessee and even in this, they wrongly attribute the protests to fans being upset about not getting a coach they wanted. But their opinion holds much sway and this job looks even more toxic now.

Need an all Tennessee staff.

Ya, very unfair to someone when there's very little actual evidence he knew and covered it up.

Gruden was def being talked to for some BOT to be told things were going down at one point. I'm sure Currie messed that up too

I’ve only seen Herbstreit act like it is just sour grapes. Media in general seems to be pretty adamant the protests are about his relationship with Penn State.

Sorry for buying the Grumors and pushing it so hard here guys. My bad. All of this sucks. Still can’t believe what has unfolded today. Hopefully it works out in the end.

:hi:

Yeah, this destroyed us. I thought it couldn't get worse than light night, but obviously I was wrong.

Not sure the program ever recovers.
