For some reason many fans got it into their head that Gruden was a realistic possibility and anything short of hiring him or Peterson/Patterson (or maybe Chip Kelly) was going to lead to a backlash. Then with the inept decision by Currie the fan base exploded. It will be impossible to hire a good coach now, that ship has sailed. Currie may have to step down which leads us back to having to hire an AD before we get a coach. It is a mess and it makes me sad.

WRONG Rutgers was never in top 10 during his tenure. Was #12 one time. Went 4-8 his next to last year. Bowls he went to were Pinstripe, Insight, St Pete, Texas bowls. Had losing record 5 of 11 seasons. 28-48 against Big East opponents. Not the man to win sec titles. Not a big upgrade over Butch. Dont understand why some of you think he's such a great coach

Of course the real lesson is exactly the opposite. Listen to the fanbase and don't try to force a morally questionable hire down their throats or you will be sitting with them. And it certainly was not the fanbase who screwed up the last few hires. None of those coaches would have been their choice. The UTAD just likes to perpetuate this narrative of unreasonable fans to cover for their ineptitude. And the sneering arrogance of that position in the light of their serial failures will of course make people angry. How could it be otherwise?

The reason McQueary has credibility is that he made admissions against interest that ended his career. Bradley and Schiano deny the allegation, but there is no incentive for McQueary to make up a conversation. And that is certainly not the sort of conversation one would forget.

Just so everyone knows what the allegation is, McQueary claims Bradley told him that Schiano came into the office as white as a sheet and said that he had seen Sandusky doing something to a kid in the shower.

You claim the fanbase believes lies, but there is nothing to back up your allegation. I believe McQueary is telling the truth here. There is no proof either way, but it is certainly an issue where people of good will can differ.

The truth is that UT does not have to risk associating with someone who has this sort of baggage, and should not have that person as the face of their program.

The fans were absolutely right here. And you are the one being emotional, bitter, unreasonable and irrational by pretending that your position on this incident is the only morally justifiable one.

The "other person" had a choice of lying or admitting that he witnessed rape of a minor and failed to do anything but cover it up.

I actually think, coaching wise, he's a downgrade from Butch. I just wonder, now that the dust has settled, if our fan base (myself included) may have taken it a little to far based on the evidence we have.

it was a dumb decisons because currie is screwed, schiano is screwed, and the fans are screwed. schiano just wanted to be a head coach and there's no facts to prove he's guilty of anything, probably ruined his career just trying to make it back to HC. This is why elections are so easily won, people change their opinions based on the hottest talking point, dont do anything research and have assumptions. the only thing this backlash shows is that UT and the fans are a bunch of emotional nut jobs and it's not somewhere a good coach would want to come. too emotional around here, almost scary...and would someone fix this lag, ill donate to increase your hosting bandwidth if that's the issue.

I’m not saying they are guilty, but of course Schiano and Bradley would deny the story. By not denying they would be admitting that they are part of the problem. The real question is, why would McQueary make this up? What purpose would that serve? If he was aware of the wrong doings, and now we know Paterno was as well, isn’t it plausible that many other coaches knew about it? Again, not laying blame...but there is a lot of smoke.

I for one am tired of hiring a coach and then canning him in a few years. I am SICK TO DEATH of trying out questionable coaches. Get this hire RIGHT for a change.

On Nov.9, 2006 (week 12), Rutgers beat #3 ranked Louisville, went to 9-0, and moved to #7 in the country. They finished #12 at the end of the year at 11-2.

The year that Rutgers went 4-8 was when starting defensive tackle Eric Legrand was paralyzed , and the team lost their last 6 games after that. They rebounded the next year.

Why anyone who actually looks at the facts and don't at a minimum think Schiano could at a minimum have known is simply fooling themselves or an apologists.

Only Schiano, Bradley and McCreary know the truth. However Bradley and Schiano are the only ones that have reason to lie.

It may heave happened just like you said, however I can think of a possible motive.

1) McQueary was suing PSU for millions and wanted to make it look like others on the staff were complicit, which would give him a better chance of winning a large financial settlement.

2) If that is the case, the question is why Schiano and Bradley? Both coaches were at PSU while McCreary was a player. Maybe he had a grudge against them like JuJuan Jennings did at our staff.

If McQ was telling the truth, maybe Schiano was afraid to come forward to his bosses, who were Sandusky and then Paterno. The next stop would be the police, and I'm sure he knew that the police often cover up university crime.

Paterno was a god at PSU, and Schiano was a 20 something year old at his first coaching job.

I'm not saying he did but let's not pretend it's out of the realm of possibility.

All good points but you're wasting your breath. Like I said earlier, after people break out the pitchforks and go on a witch hunt, they're generally not to open to hearing anything that might suggest the person they just burned at the stake may have not been a witch.

There are plenty of other people who say Schiano is innocent. Use google this morning. Getting roasted by all the people that have enough sense to sleep on something before speaking.

Which our fanbase didn't have the sense to do.
