For the record, I am 100% against a Schiano hire. I think the AD has really failed to do their due diligence in all this hire.

Having said that...

I think most of this reaction is emotionally rooted in the fact that Schiano is a huge miss from a football standpoint. People are just mad that we are about to hire another crappy coach, so we latch on to whatever we can.

To my knowledge, Mike McQueary claimed to have heard second hand that Schiano witnessed some lude behavior from Sandusky. That is hardly "evidence" and not very damning.

I think it would have been enough to keep me from hiring the guy, but we seem to have a lot of people convinced that Schiano is guilty of something and I believe that is a stretch.

Okay so we were told money is no object and there are 5-6 higher tier coaches out there and we either missed on ALL of them or Currie didn't really try to get ANY of them. Several coaches expressed interest and we said no thanks and turned Kelly away because of concerns, but think Schiano is clean and the perfect hire? Uh NO. This is the problem.

There are plenty of good candidates that can surely see through the fact we won't overlook child rape enabling as opposed to having a fair shot.

We gave Dooley and Butch very fair chances. Checker Neyland while sucking etc.

A good person who wins games will be a legend.

Here's where things stand as of about 6 p.m.

The ball is in Greg Schiano's court. The Ohio State defensive coordinator is mulling over the Tennessee offer — with the unprecedented backlash giving he and his family some pause due to the reactions, per sources.

Obviously, the response by Vol Nation has been seen and heard from everyone.

This afternoon, John Currie flew up to Columbus to get Schiano, with hopes of holding a 9 p.m. press conference tonight. That won't happen tonight. That doesn't mean the deal is dead though.

So we all wait to see whether or not this gets done.

Epic smokescreen, Cur dog. Now get the **** out of Knoxville.

Haslam's need to get the f out too. This is all on them, imo. Vol Nation needs to turn on them now. Don't need their money.

Really can't wait to hear about inside scoops from people. We are probably going to strike out on this hire, but at least it won't be Greg ****ing Schiano. And maybe we will be lucky enough to get Currie fired as well.

Agreed. I don't believe in calling someone guilty based on a second hand accusation. I also don't think anyone associated with that situation should be a HC. Not only because of the perception of the program, but because it would be hard to recruit. I don't think he should lose his job, but it's not a smart business move to hire a HC who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, even if he's totally innocent, because of the perception.

Exactly. It is a football problem.

But the rock says Schiano protected Sandusky.

That is where I think people are drifting a little too far out.

Guys, we just got burned by supposed "insiders" and then immediately believe another "insider" that the deal is "100% off"? Come on man. I'd love to believe it but I don't trust anybody anymore.

If currie is still trying to get this done then I guess he doesn't realize he won't be able to go outside without security until he is fired...
