Not Chip Kelly, Gruden, or Gary Patterson, but it is clear that its impossibke to make everyone happy.
I think the three you name are the only ones that seem to fit the three criteria that Currie established (big, expensive, explosive). Petersen is probably a half step to a full step below those three. Unless Currie has a successful sitting head coach that none of us would expect to leave his current situation on the hook, I don't know where else he can turn.
Ok, then should we have kept Butch?
The posters on here and TN fans in general are insane."I WILL ONLY ACCEPT A COACH THAT WINS 12 GAMES A YEAR, NO LESS.IF THEY CAN'T BEAT BAMA THEN THEY SUCK. WOW THEY HAD A BAD YEAR, NEXT. WOW A COACH THAT WAS MEDIOCRE IN THE NFL, WANT."
While Tennessee is a more attractive job than most,it's not a top tier program like before so those big "sure thing" coaches aren't going to leave their top programs.
Stop being delusional VN
.
Peterson or Patterson then Frost and Kiffin if Mullen is all we can do then go the coordinator route. Mullen is not ever going to win an NC anyhwere . I would like to see Ut win another MC in my life time . I though MS got beat in every aspect of the game tonite
Turned a slow 6'0", 250-pound quarterback at Bowling Green named Josh Harris into an NFL draft pick.
Turned a two-star QB recruit at Utah into a Heisman finalist and the 1st overall pick in the NFL Draft - beating out Aaron Rodgers as the top QB in the draft class as well
Turned an underachieving QB in Chris Leak, who was on the verge of transferring away, into a national champion starter
Turned Tim Tebow into a Heisman winner, a national champion, and a 1st-round pick
Turned a mid-level recruit in Dak Prescott into a two-time All-SEC pick, an NFL draft pick, and the toast of Dallas
Took Mississippi State to the first #1 ranking in the history of the program
You guys couldn't wait for this night but what you didn't mention is Nick Fitzgerald went down in the 1st quarter with an injury that made everyone in that stadium puke
Goodness, people, I don't have Mullen anywhere near the top of my list either. BUT, the guy did lose his starting QB early last night and still competed. They easily could have been blown out in that game (see Butch Jones as Exhibit 1).
I know you don't want Mullen (and I don't necessarily want him, either). But, stop using last night as some kind of referendum on him. It makes you look really dumb and biased.
