Dude we have a lot of idiots on here.

We’ve been so bad for so long that people get confused. If a coach loses one game he is automatically not worthy to coach the vols apparently. But a coach who hasn’t won anything and turned a mid major around is the next Saban...

Honestly I’ve always thought Mullen sucked. Has a losing SEC record....26-30 overall SEC play and 13-26 vs West teams. And before you use the excuse “the West is tough” remember that we have to have 3 wins vs West teams to win an SEC championship.....1 random and have to beat Bama twice.

You lost me at Mullen sucks. That's just wrong. He's not my number 1 choice, but he doesn't suck.

Nope. This game may make him more ready to leave Miss. State. Star player will have major rehab. Lost Egg Bowl again to rival - this is Mullens' year to make a move. If Gruden is not announced Monday - major offer needs to be made to Dan Mullen. Give him 2 days to respond - If No - look at Matt Campbell and Greg Schiano.

I was a little harsh saying that (read my last post) but I’m just tired of seeing fans be ok with a decent coach who gets maybe 9 wins at best instead of a coach that has a real chance at SEC championships and maybe even a national championship.

That 26-30 record includes 30 games against Auburn, Alabama and LSU

I really think he’s a legend at Mississippi State. He’s their Saban. He rules the roost there and will have a statue of himself there one day.

With that said....he can stay there.

Btw is anybody in this thread still watching the game? Helluva comeback thus far. The freshman settled down and Ole Piss gave them a little help.

I would like to be the first to officially congratulate Dan Mullen on his 5th place finish in the SEC West. Great program building in year 9. #HailState

It's one game you twit. Plus he lost his starting QB. The stupidity on this board never ceases to amaze me.

I hear ya. The truth is, though, there are really few guarantees, if any. The Bielema (sp?) hire comes to mind at Arkansas. That seemed like a great hire at the time, and look how it turned out. Not so good. Georgia fired Richt, and he now has Miami in the playoff. I like Frost and Campbell, but they're both risks. The only almost guarantees are probably Patterson and Peterson, but will they come? People were high on Fuente, but since he's lost a couple games people have cooled off on him.

Mullen is probably the safest hire with the highest floor. Who knows where his ceiling would be at UT?

Down by 3 vs their biggest rival, a very talented Ole Miss team, AFTER losing his star starting QB and having to play a true freshman qb who turned the ball over 3 times. Oh yeah, Currie should immediately drop Mullen off his list.

Mullen had to deal with 5 turn overs and an injured qb. He still made a game of it. Not a sterling performance but he could have let the game get away from him in blowout.
