If I had to bet, probably more Currie doing due diligence and seeing if there was interest more than anything official.

and also, could see it being used to divert attention as well. It's pretty obvious Currie is manipulating the media

How about this. Currie contacts Kelly's agent to see if Kelly is interested. He says he is and Currie says we'll get back to you. Kelly's agent then says Kelly turned down the Vols offer to get his guy's name in the news. All about publicity. Nothing else. Agents love to get their guy's name out there. That's more than likely what happened.

You would think he just wouldn't talk as much if that were the case. He's going to look stupid! It did seem like ALL the media went south on Gruden at the same time though. It went from a possibility to NO way in hell..overnight.

What would Currie gain (other than continuing a smokescreen) by reaching out to an agent, only to bolster a guy we have no interest in? And if a smokescreen, why Chip Kelly? It could be easily done with a plethora of others.

If anything, it happened the other way around.
