aaaand THIS is why Butch stayed around for 5 years

The first 3 1/2 years of Butch was progressive and a whole lot jumped on the Butch train than jumped off. Merchandise sells were out of the roof at the beginning of the 2016 season and there was a ton of hype and excitement. Yes, it ended bad and things started going south for Butch and I’m glad he is gone, believe me.

It's certainly fair for you to do that. I did it last time, and the time before, oh yeah...and the time before that.

Fix it, or I'm done.

I feel exactly the same way. I think you and I represent a significant portion of the fan base. We've supported and defended poor coaching hires, we've given the benefit of the doubt to inept coaches and emotionally invested in their underachieving teams, watching Vandy Missouri and UK kick our butts. We will no longer support mediocrity or worse. Enough is enough, and we've had more than enough.

There's a difference between giving someone a chance and supporting them... I'll give anyone a chance to win me over if they are successful. I will just have to see (consistent) results before giving support.

Gruden is someone I (and most all fans) can support from Day 1.

Someone like Mullen would need to win consistently for 2-3 years before I will say he was a good hire.

I think we're basically saying the same thing.

There is a difference in supporting the hiring process and/or results (your definition of "support" above), and supporting the coach ("give anyone a chance" as you stated above).

Pertaining to why Tee would actually be in Seattle question. If I'm working on a deal with someone I'd much rather meet with them in person and get an actual feel for their interest and excitement towards it. You can't get that over a phone honestly.

Tee is in Seattle? Source?

When?

These are just my personal guesses.

I give it a roughly 20% chance of being announced before the Vandy game. Why? Because we have several key recruits coming to the game. If we've been able to talk Jon Gruden into announcing before the season is over, that's the key argument: for the signing class.

Within these next five days, Mon, Tue, and Fri stand out. Mon because you take advantage of a whole week's worth of hype and buildup. Tue because same reason, just waiting until after MNF. Friday for maximum impact on the weekend, while leaving the focus on the lads on Saturday. Wed and Thu just don't have any particular good argument...so those have a lower chance. Saturday I honestly believe is 0% chance, but I put it at 1% because every date needs a little love. :)

But the good money is on the three days after the Vandy game. Could be Sunday (20%), as the earliest possible date that fits with a Gruden demand not to take away from the current coaches. More likely Monday (35%), because business is done on weekdays, even in the entertainment industry. And then again, could be Tuesday (20%) to allow one more MNF without an orange tie.

Anyway, just my guesses. We could hear this week, though I think it less likely. We will almost certainly hear within 8 days.

Go Vols!

EDIT: Not sure why it came out fuzzy looking. It's clear as crystal on the host site: View mNArOk.png - cubeupload

97% chance a coach is announced by next Tuesday? May want to re-calibrate that machine. Multiple people have said recruits are being told to expect a coach by Dec. 10.

What I don't understand is nobody is saying this about Gruden. Everyone is just assuming he will roll through the SEC year in and year out. He might, but he also might not. What if he stinks it up? Then what? I like Gruden and think he is a really really good coach. HOWEVER he still needs to earn the fat paycheck he would get to come to UT. Showing up and generating a buzz just won't cut it.

I've wanted to fire Butch since 2015.

Done that...now I'm done with that.

If Mullen is hired and I could get a "GTFO Mullen" sign in Neyland Stadium without actually showing up, I would.

Gruden was never coming, and if we don’t get a coach like Mullen it will be much worse haha. You guys need a dose of reality. We will be finishing our worst season in history come Saturday and Currie will announce someone much worse than Mullen sometime after that.

I've had an overdose of reality for the last 10 years. Don't need any more, thanks.
