There are coaches that will not disappoint me, and who I could wholeheartedly support without reservation. Dullen does not even cast a shadow on that list.

Fair enough. I respect your opinion. I think it's a little hasty to basically say you wouldn't give him a chance, if hired. But if that is your approach, it's your right to do so.

I think it's fair to not respect the hiring process, but still respect the results until that coach proves he can't cut it within an adequate timeframe.

I have one go to guy.... he has been correct with every coaching search we had past Fulmer, however the Administration has changed and I do NOT believe that anyone has information like they use to.... even when he told me 50% Gruden...he said I should be cautious ...

I believe this is GREAT advice for everybody in this search

Times have changed!

I had a Haslam connection for years up until about 2 years ago and she wont return my calls now lol :)

I agree. How would you suggest they do this?
I don't know...pick one.

"We have reached out to Jon Gruden, but the interest is not there."

"We understand the fans' desires and wishes, but we have to base the hire on the reality in which we find ourselves."

"We want a proven coach with college head coaching experience."

"We could not come to terms with Jon Gruden, we are moving on to plan B."

"Jon Gruden was never at the top of our list, but we gave him serious consideration."

"Our next hire will be someone with a proven college resume."

The fact that nothing has been said speaks volumes. Silence can be deafening.

Just doesn't line up with everything going on IMO.

I'm just saying that in 2017, his specific location doesn't matter unless he's in a face to face meeting. And there won't be any face to face meetings with sitting coaches, and there's already been a face to face with Gruden.

He can do his job from the bahamas and not miss a beat. And he gets to be with his family.

Come on Boro, we are TENNESSEE!! As a fan, it is our duty to support our beloved vols, regardless who the coach is. We may not like it, but we have to respect it or the only thing that will suffer is the University. If we as a fan base aren’t the most supportive and enthusiastic in all of football then we are only hurting ourselves when the time comes, for yet another hire. Nearly every presser that introduces a new college football coach, the new coach always talks about the “great fans” of that particular team. No matter who the coach is...WE SHALL ALWAYS SUPPORT!!

We could argue that supporting the status quo is more harmful long-term (think decades)than taking a stand on another poor coaching choice. Sometimes you have to take a stand.

So he's using Gruden as a smokescreen to keep us off the trail of his no-name Google candidate? Boy that should go over well... He'll look like a real genius when he has most of the fan base expecting Gruden and he rolls out Matt Campbell and people have to get out their phones to know who he is. Surprise!!!

He can get away with not saying anything much easier.

When?

These are just my personal guesses.

I give it a roughly 20% chance of being announced before the Vandy game. Why? Because we have several key recruits coming to the game. If we've been able to talk Jon Gruden into announcing before the season is over, that's the key argument: for the signing class.

Within these next five days, Mon, Tue, and Fri stand out. Mon because you take advantage of a whole week's worth of hype and buildup. Tue because same reason, just waiting until after MNF. Friday for maximum impact on the weekend, while leaving the focus on the lads on Saturday. Wed and Thu just don't have any particular good argument...so those have a lower chance. Saturday I honestly believe is 0% chance, but I put it at 1% because every date needs a little love. :)

But the good money is on the three days after the Vandy game. 75% chance the announcement comes in that 3-day window. Could be Sunday (20%), as the earliest possible date that fits with a Gruden demand not to take away from the current coaches. More likely Monday (35%), because business is done on weekdays, even in the entertainment industry. And then again, could be Tuesday (20%) to allow one more MNF without an orange tie.

Anyway, just my guesses. We could hear this week, though I think it less likely. We will almost certainly hear within 8 days.

Go Vols!

EDIT: Not sure why it came out fuzzy looking. It's clear as crystal on the host site: View mNArOk.png - cubeupload

It's certainly fair for you to do that. I did it last time, and the time before, oh yeah...and the time before that.

Fix it, or I'm done.

We've been disappointed by coaching hires for way too long. I don't see anyone not named Gruden that will galvanize the fan base and, maybe even more importantly, salvage this recruiting class. If this class is not outstanding, the new coach will be behind the curve from the start and a battered and impatient fan base will turn on him quickly.

Don't think for 1 second that Norvell would't jump at the opportunity to come to Tennessee. He'd be up on I-40 givin er hell all the way to Knoxville if he thought he had a shot.

not saying he wouldn't..I am sure he would..just saying it is way too big a stage for him in Knoxville..
We have tried that before and we all know how that has worked out...
GO BIG or GO HOME.
