I do not follow anyone blindly. I have no "duty" to follow something I disagree with. Neither do you.

Furthermore....if we don't get this hire right, the next one won't matter.

Much respect to your position and I get it, believe me. We’ve been struggling for a decade or more and 3 coaches later, there is still no light at the end of the tunnel. I just believe that whoever is hired should have our support until proven otherwise.

Done that...now I'm done with that.

If Mullen is hired and I could get a "GTFO Mullen" sign in Neyland Stadium without actually showing up, I would.

Here is a thought. I’m all in on Gruden being the next head coach. But as each day passes I have began to wonder . Do we want a coach that wants to be here or someone that has to be begged?

Pertaining to why Tee would actually be in Seattle question. If I'm working on a deal with someone I'd much rather meet with them in person and get an actual feel for their interest and excitement towards it. You can't get that over a phone honestly.

We could argue that supporting the status quo is more harmful long-term (think decades)than taking a stand on another poor coaching choice. Sometimes you have to take a stand.

I respect that stance. I am as frustrated as everyone else about our coaching decisions. We just have to remember we aren’t dealing with the same ole fools we were in years past. I have faith in JC until proven differently.

after Gruden is announced, will anyone else be happy about not having to read any more
BS about Mullen ?

Every time I accidentally hit the Official Dan Mullen thread tab, I go into panic mode, that I might actually see something in there.

It may not in reality end up being Gruden, but I WILL NOT support a Mullen, Norvell, Campbell, Frost, Durkin type hire.

I. Won't. Do. It.

Sorry, I will reignite the apathy that the dismissal of Butch quenched, and move forward being just a football fan. I love my University, this City, and this State, but will not support what I feel to be another half-effort at hiring a lackluster coach.

They need to understand, the longer it takes to make a move to return us to some type of prominence, the longer it will take to garner the type of fan-support they desire.

Sorry for the self-important, overwrought personal rant. This is the last I'll say on the matter....it doesn't have to be my choice of coach, but it better be worthy.

Know who else won't support a hire like that? The people signing giant checks. The Beav, bubba, et al prove that.

Come on Boro, we are TENNESSEE!! As a fan, it is our duty to support our beloved vols, regardless who the coach is. We may not like it, but we have to respect it or the only thing that will suffer is the University. If we as a fan base aren’t the most supportive and enthusiastic in all of football then we are only hurting ourselves when the time comes, for yet another hire. Nearly every presser that introduces a new college football coach, the new coach always talks about the “great fans” of that particular team. No matter who the coach is...WE SHALL ALWAYS SUPPORT!!
Losing mentality right here...

Fair enough. I respect your opinion. I think it's a little hasty to basically say you wouldn't give him a chance, if hired. But if that is your approach, it's your right to do so.

I think it's fair to not respect the hiring process, but still respect the results until that coach proves he can't cut it within an adequate timeframe.

There's a difference between giving someone a chance and supporting them... I'll give anyone a chance to win me over if they are successful. I will just have to see (consistent) results before giving support.

Gruden is someone I (and most all fans) can support from Day 1.

Someone like Mullen would need to win consistently for 2-3 years before I will say he was a good hire.

They're not going to come out and say he didn't accept the offer, so them not saying a word so far proves absolutely nothing.

They wouldn't say "he turned us down," no.

They would absolutely say, "Jon Gruden is not one of the options we are pursuing," to manage expectations.

With that in mind, read the logic again. It's pretty air tight.

Current list of coaches and I cannot get behind
1. Dan Mullen
2. Greg Schiano
3. Mike Norvell
4. PJ Fleck
5. Les Miles
6. Any current DC not named Venables
7. Anyone from FCS
8. Mike Bobo
9. Mike Macintrye
10. Coach McGoogle

Schiano beat Butch Jones 20-3 in 2011 Rutgers v Cincinnati. Believe it was Butch's first year there and Schiano's last at Rutgers. So Schiano is clearly a Home Run Hire! /s
