It may not in reality end up being Gruden, but I WILL NOT support a Mullen, Norvell, Campbell, Frost, Durkin type hire.
I. Won't. Do. It.
Sorry, I will reignite the apathy that the dismissal of Butch quenched, and move forward being just a football fan. I love my University, this City, and this State, but will not support what I feel to be another half-effort at hiring a lackluster coach.
They need to understand, the longer it takes to make a move to return us to some type of prominence, the longer it will take to garner the type of fan-support they desire.
Sorry for the self-important, overwrought personal rant. This is the last I'll say on the matter....it doesn't have to be my choice of coach, but it better be worthy.

Everybody saying Gruden makes sense because he hasnt denied it needs to realize he hasnt denied any job, including the Tampa rumors.
Currie also may have a very good reason not to deny it besides it being a smokescreen.
Would love Gruden here, but I dont see how anybody can accurately read whats going on based on what has or hasnt been officially released from the AD. JMO.
If John Currie is using this as a smokescreen for another hire, then he is the dumbest sob on the planet IMO and wont be the AD here long. If his is ignorant about how passionately the majority of the fanbase wants Gruden then I question his ability to run this AD. JMO

If anyone thinks that only Gruden can do the job, then those folks really need to wake up. There are other guys who can do the job. Whether they would take the job is the question. There's a long list of coaches who could.
That being said, UT needs the splash. We need the instant energy that comes with it. We need the name recognition that brings recruits. Gruden brings those things, but there are other names that would as well. Maybe not the names that we speculate.
Who said he is pursuing him and who said he has to because that's what the fanbase wants. I am saying that he knows what the fanbase wants and he is not squashing it, so if he is using this as a smokescreen, he is pretty incompetent in doing so.But he cannot just pursue Gruden blindly because a portion of the fanbase wants it that way. I am of the opinion that Currie is a smart guy and whether he gets this right or not, he is doing things the way he thinks they need to be done. Which will either elevate him to royal status or make him the most hated man in the state.
Boro, I may have missed it in the past, but outside of Gruden who would be your top three?
