And with their Under Armor deal and that infusion of cash as well as their donor base, they can go toe to toe with UF for him.
In the end, it's going to depend on where he wants to coach.
Doyle, the proof of the error in your thinking is this: expectation management.
The UT administration are not dumb, and they're not blind. They know that the fan base are excited about Gruden. And they know that disappointment from not getting Jon will be a powerful, and maybe destructive, reaction. Far, far better to dissipate that reaction early than late. Do not give it time to grow further. And especially do not allow it to come just when the announcement of the real coach is being made.
They know all that.
They haven't said a word.
That's as close as you can get to proof that Gruden is still in play. He may be a lock, or it may still be a negotiation, but it is certain that he's still in play.
No question about it.
What about your love for us? Are you tired of defending that?
Does Ape ever tire of defending his love for booze and hookers?
Don't get down. It's the home stretch. Welcome us all with open arms and get that party dress idea from Faceless.
I am still on the Gruden train because:
I am tired of playing teams and saying "If we can only make it respectable and keep it close I will be happy" or "We know we can't beat them and just don't get embarrassed".
I no longer will be satisfied with mediocrity as the norm, or just hoping for a bowl game (any bowl) or praying that we somehow find a way to win one!
I am old enough to remember the days under Fulmer when people actually feared to play in Neyland and knew if they face UT they faced a great team.... We use to be the be team that others said about us "they hope they can at least keep it close". For those to young to remember it was not just under Fulmer we were that way it was under Dickey and the first couple of years under Battle.. other teams hated us... I want to go BACK!
Their might be an up and comer that can do that, but there is one coach for sure (in my thoughts at least) that can and his name is Jon Gruden. So until Currie introduces someone else, for me I will stay right here hoping for the best out there for UT football
GRUDEN TO THE HILL!
I'm not jumping ship.
It's just all of this tea leaf reading and riddle talking has gotten beyond ridiculous and pointless.
It's time for the situation to be addressed plainly and to the point by the ones directly involved.
I've seen conflicting reports on this... one is he is going and the other his family is and he is staying behind... does anyone know for sure?
if he's going he has his man and nothing will be announced until he gets back for sure

Thats what Im trying to say! I heard Currie tell Bob Kessling before the game on the radio interview that he gave his family a choice: Stay here with him or to go the Bahamas. They picked the Bahamas. They both laughed. Then he said he was going to try to make it down for a day or two.
Do you realize what it's going to be like for us if Gruden says no?
shew it is gloomy and depressing in here this morning.
we either need some good grumors or some closure on this
You should see it during the overnight hours. Nobody in here but the trolls from other threads trying to depress everyone. I work 3rd shift so I get to see the upswing like there is now and the downswing when the info guys are asleep and nobody is in here to defend or refute. I'm a nobody here so I can't really add anything
