I will also add that I am at the point of starting to think the longer this goes without either side commenting the less likely it's going to happen. There is really no good reason not to acknowledge it anymore. The job is open, recruiting class is in jeopardy, and with the results of Saturday night any real chance at a bowl is gone. Some have brought up holding off until after the season because some of the assistants are still coaching but that really doesn't hold water. Gruden doesn't have to announce his entire staff on the day he is hired. I am sure he has a good idea of who is coming even if they are currently employed at the time he signs a contract.
The only reason, imo, it's not made public is if he has turned us down. Tennessee probably wouldn't want it to be made public that they struck out going after their top choice.
