Are you serious? Lol.
Try the damn Gruden thread then. Because I've seen an endless list of posters saying no to every single coach and then numbering 1 through 5 with Gruden's name beside all of them.

If you haven't seen this, then you've been trying real hard not to.

I’m not gonna expend the energy to why I think this is bogus. Agree to disagree. Not worth arguing to me.

I’m wondering if AV has been asked to put out some info (I think it is known he posts here) out to help put out the flames. If Gruden has said no, I fully expect him to come here and tell us straight up that Gruden will not be the coach. He hasn’t done that. You know who else hasn’t done that? Hubbs and LWS. Something big happened this past Wed and Thursday. For Hubbs to post about the text he received that the deal is done, and then a couple hours later finally decide to backtrack, tells me something happened and he was told he needed to put out the flames. Those events keep popping back into my mind that something significant happened. I everyone thought it was about to break, hence all the celebrations, but was then told to reel it in, because we weren’t read to announce at that time. All of this is just my opinion, so TIFWIW.

Just from reading the tea leaves I think the post from DD4ME earlier was probably pretty close. I think he asked for some time to decide and our guys aren’t optimistic that he says yes.

Well, if that's the case, UT has had amble opportunity to put the Grumors to bed.

I completely agree with this.
And to be honest, I think Hyams did also. He actually said he didn't think we would get Gruden but also said he would love to have him.
Just basically implied there are several good coaching targets and just hopes that the Grumors doesn't throw any off. (Or any more off)

In reality, this statement was benign.
I would never have posted it in the FF because I knew it would be turned in to way more than what it was. I didn't expect that to happen here, obviously I gave credit a little too quickly.

IF Gruden is truly trying to figure it all out as DD4ME posted, I can see them wanting to give him the holiday to decide if it is a condition of the boosters funding it. Despite my doubts of him actually coming, I want Gruden as bad anybody on here. However, I would not beg and hope the guy signed. If Currie and the boosters knew they could hire Gary Patterson today - the sun should not set without his signature IMO.

Still believe it’s going to be Gruden. Nothing on my list is really impacted by insiders talk. If it’s going to be Gruden then my theory is that it won’t leak until after the season. Meaning there will be misdirection and stalling until it finally happens out of nowhere.

And Currie comes out looking like a hero...just like a certain furry poster said would happen many weeks ago.

If Currie knew Gruden wasnt his man and he thought that Grudens name was going to jeopardize any further candidates, he would squash it. He would. Why would he not?

Either that or the 2 that said that just let Currie know that they arent the kind of coaches he needs anyway.

I think he would be a really good hire. Was the o line coach here in 01. That o line was nasty and consistently knocked every d line they faced off the ball. I'll take an educated guess and say he understands from a physicality standpoint what it takes to win in this league. Did a solid job turning around a dead Syracuse program and did well enough there to get an NFL coaching job with the Bills. Went 9-7 in his second season with Buffalo and then left for a reason that I'm not sure of. His Jaguars are about to be 7-3 after today.
I think he left because he didn’t think Bills mgmt was giving him what he needed to be successful.

Would be a good hire imo but i would hate to wait that long. Not sure why he would leave the NFL.

I think Norvell would be a prime example of a guy who thinks he knows what it would be like in the SEC, but in reality he doesn't. Whoever the next guy is I really hope he doesn't run a finesse style of offense. That does not work in this league. I want some ground and pound back up in here.

Jimmy Hyams (I know, I know but the downside to Grudenmania)

"I had a very prominent booster tell me that 2 coaches, that you would expect to be on a Tennessee search list, already say they had no interest in the UT coaching position. And they specifically cited the Gruden or bust hype"

Who knows if the booster is telling the truth.
I guess if I was a coach though, the fanbase reception and patience level would be at least a concern.

Gruden and Mullen

The "coming out looking like a hero" thing was said sooo much in 2012.

It's the same exact thing. He's not coming. We will hire a good coach this time, though.

No problem.
But curious which you are calling bogus. That the FF guys are saying it and don't really mean it?
Or calling me a liar about them saying it?
FTR, I think your calling their statements bogus but obviously it makes a difference to me.

If this were the case and Gruden wasn’t a legit option, then we would have squashed this a long time ago.

I'd hate to wait that long but I'd sacrifice a recruiting class all day if it meant we were getting a quality SEC level coach in here. Doug Mathews seemed to think he would be a good candidate this morning a couple people have said he's expressed interest in the job.

This. It would have already been put out for certain that either Gruden was never in the running or they have moved on from Gruden and whoever the other candidate are, would have their full attention.
