He may well be thinking that if Tennessee would be willing to give an absolute dullard like Butch Jones five years, then he could do enough in Knoxville to make this his last job before retirement.

That being said, I’ve allowed this to consume too much of my time and brain power, and at the end of the day, it’s hiring a football coach not choosing a career or what to name your baby. I’ve been grouchy at times and rude at times and for that, I apologize. I’ve enjoyed getting to “know” y’all but I’m retreating back into my real life. Lol. I found myself looking down at my phone during church this am and that’s just not right. The Lord deserves my very best and this isn’t it. I’ll still be reading, following and believing that it’s Gruden till it ain’t ans will celebrate with y’all when it happens. But until then, y’all have a great Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

Maybe Atlanta's post will help everyone take a step back and appreciate what's really important in life.

I think this is BIG. No one wants to be where they aren’t wanted. But money can change your mind. And if you are a big enough name and confident in your abilities then you don’t mind. Otherwise we run off everyone else and get another Butch who is just happy to be in over his head.

I see AV's post as meaning the 'whole deal', including assistants as well. I didn't read anything cryptic in that at all. So I'm still all in. If AV said that Gruden changed his mind, that would be different.

If said coach were a big name like Patterson or Peterson (no, I’m not saying either are possibilities) they would get just as much fan attention, they understand that everyone has their go to coach.

You need to go back through his posts, because he has never even made it seem as if a deal was done.

Hey 92. Appreciate your insight through all of this! I believe we will get a great coach this time around. Thanks for bringing the calm at times. Lol. And I’m not dying or leaving, just not checking every 5 mins or posting so much. My family needs my attention now. 👊

Why wouldn’t you make the announcement the week of the SEC Championship. All the recruits and most of college football fans are totally focused on that week.

this sure sounds like letting some air out of the Gruden balloon to prepare people for the "big letdown" and hiring someone that probably only a handful of people would want. sure hope i am wrong, but.........

it will be like everyone who wanted a Ferrari will have to settle for a Yugo.

Not that anybody really cares but my Gruden level is now down to 40%

No? If you're right about that, then it would be a good thing to have that fact clarified in here. So, I'm gonna take your word on that, and say that AV has never said that Gruden is a done deal. All agreed?
