This is exactly why I don't believe he'd string us along. He obviously loves TN and with his relationship to UT, I don't see him not putting these rumors to bed weeks ago.

Some of the other names would get me excited not as much as Gruden but definitely make some stand up and take notice. One in particular

I'm with ya Rev. it's cutting into my time more than I can allow. I don't know any insiders personally but can say there's enough info available for me to feel we are indeed going to hire Jon Gruden to coach our beloved Vols. Of course there's gonna be a snag or two when some of the coaches on the upcoming staff are still coaching in some very important games. I can think of several reasons that an announcement isn't being made immediately and this is just normal. Fans need to be patient and enjoy the Holidays. We'll be here when you get back.

Anyone with a bit of behavioral medicine background would appreciate VN's (not just this board) exuberance with JG would be off putting to another top tier coach. The mid majors coaches less so because of the $ involved. It would take a Kelly or Stoops to get beyond the drama we are causing. Maybe a NFL coach.

Reality seems to have taken a bite out of some previously all in LOONs. Good to see reason beginning to return in time for the holidays. I trust Mathews and the 12/10 date he put out there. The Pied Pipers that piped Gruden five years ago, piped the same tune this time around with pretty much the same methods of operation (insiders, planes, false sightings, sworn deals "done," ) and for me this time it was disheartening to see some of the better posters on VN falling for the same old junk using their actual handles ... again. Much merriment will be had as Grudenites will be forced to visit the pit of misery and then sit in stocks for some time as we of the Knights of the Told You Sos get to fling as many rotten vegetables as we want as reinforcement to avoid the next set of pipers when they show up! Dilly! Dilly!
