I wonder his his one source is? Could it be Blackburn? Is it a high level booster? Is his information current? I just don't have faith in anyone right now.

If LWS who has sources on top of sources can’t get a definitive answer, I highly doubt Swain can. JMO.

Seems fake to me. The fact he felt the need to dispel that Gruden would not coach the remainder of the season shows a level of ignorance about how these things work. There is no question he wouldn’t coach. That’s like calling water wet.

OP said gruden was on the plane. This guy knows nothing.

It's ok to have faith in me.
After all, bet I've never provided 1 false nugget of insider info.

Little late to the convo, but RE: OrangePill. Remember this is the guy that said Gruden was on the plane coming back the other day. I think you can take anything he says and throw it out the window.

Which guy is more annoying?

1. “He ain’t coming”
2. “How many college games has he won”
3. “He was just above 500 in nfl with players that weren’t his”
4. “He’s never recruited”

Edit: for the record I am talking about in your daily life when you bring up the coaching search in conversation with people. Not on this board. I don’t think we have many people on here that fall into 3 or 4.

Well I've been #1, so I can't say much about that. 2 and 4 have good speculative basis to them.

3 is the most annoying because it's just so wrong. For one, his NFL record is relatively good. For another, the NFL is not college football. Unless you're a coach/GM, you're not winning or losing with somebody else's players.

Tee will not come here....he will be the next coach at GA Southern.

Haven't they ran an option offense for the last few years? If so, I wouldn't touch that job. I think I would wait another year or look for something more conducive to the style of offense he's wanting to run.

He's been a bust. He might turn it around but odds are he won't. Outside of that pick six last year against Missouri, he's done nothing. He's gotten a lot of snaps but 9 times out of 10 he has no affect on the play other than a negative one.

I think a lot of the issues on both sides of the line go to Butch's philosophy of read and react instead of attacking. I think that is the biggest issue with stopping the run. I am hoping that we finally get to see what these kids can do if they attack the line of scrimmage.

By the way. The post from LWSVOL I brought over was intriguing to me because he says no one knows what Currie's list looks like. He admits that everybody is guessing. Everything is possible. Everything from Gruden has signed to Currie's looking at Satterfield. Nobody really has a clue.

Even if LWS knew it was Gruden the best way to let people know is to say they are still talking but he doesn’t think it will happen.

I consider any bust to be a waste of a scholarship. If he never makes a positive impact in his time here how is that not a waste?

Anyone good enough to start isn't a wasted scholarship. He's a solid starter. Nothing special. If we had better DEs he'd be a very good backup.

Your idea that a bust is a wasted scholarship is simply stupid. KM is a bust so far. He's still been good enough to start and play a large number of snaps and we are better with him than without him. Not everyone is an all American, and being less than an all American doesn't make one a waste of a scholarship.

I agree. I would love to see a more attacking style similar to what Jim Washburn coached with the Titans. Go get em. Butch coached lines let the fight come to them instead of taking it to the other side.

Stoops will not coach again.

Gruden is Currie's top choice or he wouldn't have smiled.

Patterson is plan 1B

Frost is plan B

Mullen is plan C

An overpaid Mullen is plan D

Doesn't matter - plan A

I think Larry has multiple sources that are giving him conflicting information. Hubbs has admitted to that being the case with him too.

My feeling is this:

We have been negotiating with Gruden for weeks. Since Butch has been fired those negotiations have intensified. Anyone that doesn't believe that we've been negotiating with Gruden, I immediately disqualify as someone in the know (looking at you Jimmy). From there I don't think we can rely on anyone, LWS, babyvol, swan, pill, or any member of the media. I think there are very few people that know the real situation as it sits right now. I think the ones that do are either not talking or spreading false information. I still think it's Gruden for one main reason (I have a few other reasons as well) I can't make myself believe that over weeks of negotiations it would fall through at the end. Larry keeps saying he doesn't think Gruden wants to coach college as his main reason why it would fail. That's the first thing that would have been addressed weeks ago. It's either Gruden or we have very poor negotiators working this thing.
