Just because it’s not been reported publicly that he’s accepted, doesn’t mean that he hasn’t accepted.

That's the only name I can think of. I actually think Gruden is still the more seismic hire, but Harbaugh is perhaps better overall. I mean, he's still coaching. Has a Super Bowl win a decade more recently than Gruden. But he's not a superstar like Gruden. Jim is less accomplished but far more famous.

Other than that, you'd have to introduce Patterson or Petersen or someone of that caliber to not piss off the fanbase.

Harbaugh would also be able to point to players in the NFL that he coached. Current guys. Young guys. Most of Gruden's players are retired now.

Seriously though. The “doesn’t want to coach the Vandy game” is the tell. He’s had some other missteps along the way. He’s trolling. So is baby Vol or whatever his name is.

I don't find it that unbelievable. The season is probably shot, but I'm sure the higher ups don't want to lose to Vandy (again). Plus, there's the 8 loss thing. I could see them discussing the idea of Gruden coaching the last game if they thought it would improve our chances of winning.

As for babyvol, I don't know why he would troll. I'm pretty sure it's known who he really is.

Maybe because Tee is one of the best recruiters in the country, and the title he will have of OC will be name only for the most part, as Gruden will be heavily involved in the game plan and plays that are called.

Why put Gruden in that situation? It's not his team, but he would own that loss. Horrible way to start out your career at Tennessee.

I'm sure they don't want to see us lose to Vandy, but bringing in Gruden last minute to coach that game isn't going to help.

Why would it matter if he is known? Are people going to burn his house down? Ive had plenty of people i know lie to my face.

Edit: for the record I am talking about in your daily life when you bring up the coaching search in conversation with people. Not on this board. I don’t think we have many people on here that fall into 3 or 4.

Well, I fall into the first category, so I guess I've become one of the most annoying people on here. Although, unlike those mentioned by another poster, I am at least able to articulate the reasons I don't believe he's coming.

I have to say though that I'm enjoying the search and all the excitement and speculation that goes along with it. And if I'm wrong, and Gruden is the hire, even though I really do have doubts about him being a good fit, I plan to enjoy the euphoria that will ensue. I will also come on here and eat all the crow y'all want to serve up.

I agree to some point but anonimity does offer a blanket of protection. Yes, and some dumbass might try and burn a dude's house down.

Don't think any of us will be demanding anyone eat crow (except maybe drylo). We'll just be celebrating every day until Gruden loses his first game. And then we'll be talking about how it was a moral victory and that fanbase should enjoy it because it's the last win they'll get over UT for 20 years.

You don't fire Butch Jones to hire any (realistic) current SEC head coach other than Mullen or maybe Malzahn.

Sumlin does less with more than any coach in the conference aside from maybe Jones himself.
