I'll repeat: No one watches MNF because of Jon Gruden.

No one except maybe the novelty Twitter accounts that track the weird/funny stuff he says.

No, they cannot hire Romo away for less than they are paying Gruden. Romo is under contract, so they'd have to pay his buyout and up his salary, which wouldn't save ESPN any money at all.

I think their stars fade rather quickly. Remember the last time we saw Peyton play he was walking off the field with a super bowl ring. Peyton still has a lot of relevance. Everybody still knows Peyton and knows him for his football. Many regard him as the goat. Most regard him as one of the goats.

Do you really think if Gruden had no effect on ratings that they wouldn't have replaced him with someone cheaper yet?

Did you just answer your own question? They'll let him finish out his contract/the end of MNF. But they wouldn't care if he left for Tennessee.

Another network will get it and probably at a bargain. The sports money bubble is going to burst. Salaries are impossibly high and attendance/ratings are decreasing everywhere. Not enough money going in to the sports to sustain the salaries and network deals.

I’ll honestly be surprised if MNF even makes it to the end of the deal at 2021. If they can’t find away to stop the hemmoraging and just have it be a slow bleed then maybe they make it.

Those guys were retired before you were born. Today’s recruits were in their teens when Peyton was still playing. Huge difference.

Peyton is still a big deal.

Seriously though. The “doesn’t want to coach the Vandy game” is the tell. He’s had some other missteps along the way. He’s trolling. So is baby Vol or whatever his name is.
