BS doesn’t move Larry’s needle. And it moved. All I’m saying.

He also threw in that he got a call.

But Larry also was basically saying Swan was wrong by saying he gave it 7.5 while Swan was saying it’s done.

So does swan have a connection? I say yes. But Larry knows that swan isn’t 100% and not connected where it counts.

Schiano wouldn’t be bad. I still like Mullen the best of any semi-realistic hire. I don’t feel like he’s a lock to take the job though.

I think Schiano's personality and coaching style is best suited to a Rutgers type place where he doesn't have to deal with the 4 and 5 star egos.

I think a "tell" to watch for in the coming days are the names that get tossed around by Hubbs and co. If we start seeing new names randomly pop up like D.J. Durkin's did the other day, it's pure misinformation. And the worse the names we see, the better, IMO.

But on the other hand, if Hubbs starts really honing in on guys like Mullen or even Patterson, then I think the Gruden thing may actually be over and Currie will have turned his sights to other solid candidates.

If the Gruden fiasco isn't officially put to rest, the chaos will drown out everything around it.

I still have a ton of things lining up that make me believe.

I 100% believe Catbone. I believe he was here this week. And he was here unseen. Unlike the South Carolina game where he strutted around town being a boss.

LWS confirmed that he was in East TN the week of the So Miss game. Supposedly this was predicted by Hutch 7. If it was him that said it would have then that gives credence to Hutch and the things he has said.

Gruden showed up on campus this year for a game which has never happened.

The announcement isn’t coming until 11/26 at the earliest imo. No matter who we target and ultimately hire. I think it will be Gruden on 11/28. Until then we will get misdirection and denials. Also Gruden gave the “sensitive to coaches doing their job” comment. No hire til after the season is over.

I believe that Gruden bought that house. Nobody even knew that house was on the market and then we hear he bought it. Hank brought that here before I saw it anywhere. Days before it spread as I recall.

If you believe the report by 247 then he did that interview and brought up UT after hearing our pitch. He asked to not be asked about coaching vacancies and then brings up how much he loves rocky top.

Espn is going to have to cut his pay.

He said on Eisen show that his contract is not guaranteed. You know what is? A coaching contract.

He has a huge ego and college coaches are rock stars. In the NFL, the players are the stars.

His wife is from here and his son goes to school here.

He’s been around this program more in the past 5 years than ever before.

Timing is right for him this time.

UT knows it has to go big this time. $340m renovation on deck and it’s not getting done with a mosquito hire.

Other than Jimmy, everyone believes he's been offered. I just don't have faith he wants the insanity and grind of college football when he has other options.

One factor for me was the conflict of "This will be a great hire! We know this hire is critical to Tennessee's football program. Money is no object. We'll swing for the fences. And then the names being floated other than Gruden. You don't go from Gruden to Frost, Mullen, Durkin, and Norvell. It really never made sense to me.

Guys, it’s not going to be Gruden, Richt, Stoops, etc. It’s just not.

*hoping I can jinx it but don’t think so*

I at least get the feeling that you truly do hope you're wrong and it really is Gruden. There are plenty of people off the train who I think would rather be right than us to actually get Gruden as our coach. I don't blame you. I do hope you just unjinxed, double-triple, whatever jinxed it to be sure we do get him.

Also, in all fairness though, Larry could know 100% Gruden is coming and still probably only go up to 10% lol. Just how the man operates.

The parallels between now and 2012 are telling. The "insiders" saying it's happening, done deal, etc. Most of the press saying no its not happening. Yes, there is more smoke this time, but it feels exactly the same. I personally feel the outcome will be the same. I just hope eventually we end up with a Patterson instead of a Bobo. But I expect it will be a Bobo.

No reason to give up now. I completely agree that no one was ever going to be announced until after the season. Waiting protects the current coaches in the program and possible new assistants who are coaching at other schools that will come in with a new coach.

Soon...

This is much more fun than 2012.

I want Gruden and believe he is still in play, but you guys are crazy to be so out on Mullen. He would have us competing for the east every year after he had time to build a roster.

Yeah the whole time I was waiting for a national media person to give credence to the Grudenstory and none ever did. They almost unanimously shot it down.

Well we know for a fact that the pitch of all pitches was made. He was offered anything and everything. The only question is, does he want to coach football? If so, he'll be the next coach at Tennessee. If he doesn't, then he won't be. Simple as that.

But the fact that we made that type of pitch tells us that Currie wants THE top guy. I have a hard time believing we'll offer that to Gruden, and then go and get Bobo or something. No, he'll swing for the fences.

Because he already had Gruden when he made those comments. The other comment he made was to Martinez… I guarantee we will have a new coach in place before December 20, or there will be a new AD. You don’t make those kind of statements, if you don’t already have your guy locked up. Anything can happen and go wrong in a coaching search, and to put his neck on the line with that statement says he already had his coach.

I really expect Gruden's agent to come out and give the "Ain't no way" comment if it truly isn't happening. Of course he could fib as well.
