You kinda are. Gruden has his name on the line. His reputation. His brand. His endorsements. There are many variables in play and it isn't just UT and Gruden with a stake in this. He's still employed, under contract through 2021.

What's Gruden supposed to say? He's currently an employee with ESPN, so do people expect him to not deny it? I'd be more worried if he was dropping hints to these reporters because then it would be obvious this was just a play by his agent to get more money from ESPN.

Ok. I don’t want to think this, but is it possible that JG wanted to have certain staff and he really has reached out to people, but they won’t come, so he’s declined now?

No, it is an employment contract. Again, you know the dollar range you have to offer. Again, this is not complicated.

I’ve wondered about this.

I’m really just concerned he likes the attention. Or maybe another opening interests him more.
