The thing about Gruden though is that he loves working hard. Can't imagine he's scared to roll his sleeves up and get to work recruiting. That aspect, combined with his lofty presence is what would make him an absolute monster of a college football coach.

He is a damn leader of men and I want him now.

Olevol cited a previously unblocked pilot plane just went private last week.

Except It wasn't previously unblocked. All of Pilot's aircraft have their tracking blocked on Flight Aware and they have been that way for a long time. I know because I have checked on them in the past. His claim was false.

Tennessee does recruit itself. Just look at our level of coaching/record the last decade and how well we still recruit on a year to year basis.

Gruden still has to work to recruit. People acting like it’s a foregone conclusion he would get anyone he wants and top 2 classes by simply flashing his SB ring are setting themselves up for disappointment. Recruiting is much more than that.

You’re kind of a broken record now.

This is the RF and most have been around long enough to know how the game works. He will do just fine in recruiting and will likely be better than any other coaches on the list from day one.

This was the claim that made me start to question his comments. Other posters said the same thing you did.

A hire of Gruden would have the overtones of the Majors hire as a salvation of the program. This shadow is there for him. He worries about his standing if he loses and still wants to make his home in East Tennessee. There's a feel of destiny. It might be a heavy cloak. Tennessee needs a coach who is up to embracing greatness. It does not need to be done perfectly. It does not need to be done without trials and tribulations. It does not need to be done without setbacks. It simply needs to be done. What a golden moment.

The temptation to stand up and salute this post is almost overwhelming.

Go Vols.

Haha you know all those dudes are rushing over here to read the posts by Swanson. Heart racing, palms sweating, dry mouth while they are reading everyone's posts congratulating Swanson haha!

Ron is the 2017 version of Elvis. Gonna be people fainting in the aisles.

That took a TON of effort from “no names” particularly to nab the blue chips. Fulmer would take years off and it would show Tenn doesn’t recruit itself. Butch was a crazy hard worker recruiting. Gruden and his persona would be greater than Fulmer/Dooley/Butch combined effort IMO.

Yes, there have always been stories about his hard work ethic.

He would get up at like 3:30 or 4 in the morning when he was with the Raiders/Bucs. I think he still gets up at like 4 to watch film even without being a head coach. Don't think the SEC grind would bother him at all.
