Official Jon Gruden Thread 33

SFD, I don't think Gruden is a pawn. If anything, I think he probably wants to jump ship and if what concep posted is correct, perhaps the stars aligned properly. He wants out, espn might merge with dish somehow, and Ergen is willing to write that into the agreement. Maybe that is the benefit offered to Ergen as a result of his stalking horse bid. Also, I would assume a VC firm would be present for such a merger. Usually they are quite instrumental.

Maybe beaver's job was to prep the masses and create the fever pitch , or grand smoke and mirrors campaign, to heighten the demand for Gruden so fans wouldn't know he was obtained in a less than traditional means. Not that Gruden isn't willing. I think he wants to be our coach.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess we should pay attention to him? I’ve heard some mention his name but honestly can’t keep up with them all.

Ron Swanson is an amazing manly man with the most beautiful mustache in the world.

But then thats the character from Parks and Recreation. who knows what this guy with the Grumor is

Hey SFD - I remembered that and thought it might come into play somewhere here. in Beav's tweet last night he referenced Verizon and no one could figure it out. Maybe something connected to that new technology?

Verizon is, in a way, a competitor with Dish...

siap - just now starting my daily catch-up! I'm around post 400 right now!

Edit: Or this:

He was talking about Yahoo failing as a company for hiring writers like that guy he was tweeting at. Verizon just bought Yahoo, and he was saying the guy better hope Verizon doesn't clean house (fire him) basically. Don't think too much

This is starting to feel like when the election returns started turning toward Trump and all the “professionals” didn’t know what to say.

Hey man, all the polls predicted Hilary to win with 98% certainty all the way up till the states started reporting. Although I could predict they were wrong and why in that situation.

Man if Gruden said on MNF tonight "it's been nice working with you Mike, but I've decided to return to coaching and take the job at the University of Tennessee, man."

Poor Freaks servers. It may take days to recover.

My favorite time of the year. Temps have dipped. Leaves have fallen. People desperately fishing for likes and e-cred on the message boards.

So far the OP has got zero likes for his post

I was looking at that Currie statement yesterday about "an exhaustive search" is underway for our next coach. Well, when Majors was hired that is how he was introduced. "After an exhaustive search" because everyone knew that he was the only one we wanted. I wonder if Currie was being cute by referencing that very famous moment in UT lore because he already has his man as well JON GRUDEN....but I tricked my nurse again with the pills under the tongue trick. She falls for it every damn time.

Currie had the perfect timing to tell the Knoxville media that the Grumors are false but he didn’t deny anything.

Too much smoke out there.

KPD currently setting up a suicide watch for guilble vols fans.

Guilble? Really? TONS of reports from mainstream media saying UT wants Gruden! Gruden himself said Tennessee is a NCAA job he would take. Gruden himself said that he , and Tennessee talked in 12. Now former players saying Gruden has reached out to them about joining his staff. I don't think you understand the meaning of guilble.

Was it really the same gamble?

NFL coach with many years of college experience and a NC = an NFL coach with GA college experience?

Very comparable. Do you really think there is that much difference in winning a NC and a Super Bowl? Alabama gave Saban complete control. Did they know it would work out like this? Absolutely not. Every coaching hire is a crap shoot. Nothingis guaranteed. Gruden could be hired and completely fail here. So could every other coach we are looking at.

My point is this, since every coaching hire is a gamble, why not shoot for the best you can?
