A lot of us have been here before you guys were zygotes. Don’t expect anything spectacular, just a stable hire. You’ll see. I’ll eat crow if he’s hired, but it’s not happening

Been saying this since 2010.

You can say what you want about Saban as a game day coach. Everyone would admit he is above average. Possibly great.

But damn. They are so damn good every year because they have the best recruits every damn year. At some point, if you want what they have, you have to take what they have, and what they have... Is those ****ing recruiting classes. That's where it starts.

If Gruden is the guy, and he sucks at recruiting, I will eat my words. But damnit. We have to compete for the best class in the country at least every other year if we want to consistently challenge to get out of the SEC before Saban has a oatmeal creampie induced stroke.

If it isn't Gruden, maybe we can get Jay Z in as OC. IDGAF. The celebrity is a key part of the equation with Gruden. It absolutely shouldn't be dismissed as a bad reason we want him here.

I agree in principle, but Saban's greatness is not game day coaching, it's player development and preparation. There are game day coaches that are just as good. NOBODY beats him at prep and development.

Back on the train?

I was never off (except when i heard the package deal was offered. I really thought that was done). UT went to Jon’s agent and got money and salary requirements and also other admin and structural changes, and UT has been quietly making this changes in the last 6 weeks.

Tennessee will have thrown the kitchen sink at Gruden.

No Jon Gruden. Hell no.

Every time the head coaching vacancy comes up in Knoxville, Jon Gruden's name comes up because you guys get stars in your eyes.

Gruden then floats the idea of leaving to ESPN, using it as a way to get them to give him more money to keep broadcasting. IT'S HAPPENED EVERY SINGLE TIME HIS NAME COMES UP AS A COACHING REPLACEMENT AT TENNESSEE.

Tennessee needs a head coach who recruits well, with a proven winning record and genuinely loves the Big Orange and its fans. Jon Gruden has none of those abilities or capabilities. He ain't even a good NFL commentator.

I'm sick and tired of hearing Jon Gruden's name come up every time there's a vacancy. He needs to stay where he is, and we need to get us a great coach. Gruden is not. Dude... you're not in the running. Your number ain't coming up. I will personally travel the 100 miles to Knoxville myself and lobby AGAINST you if your name comes up, and I hope you are there visiting when I do.

Quit drinking the Gruden Koolaid, Vol fans. It ain't got no sugar in it.

I'd rather have Peyton Manning. Heck, I'd rather have Phil Fulmer back, before Jon Gruden. My mother would be a better choice.... at least, she has the dignity and respect to not use the offer to get more money out of her current employer.
