Gruden then floats the idea of leaving to ESPN, using it as a way to get them to give him more money to keep broadcasting. IT'S HAPPENED EVERY SINGLE TIME HIS NAME COMES UP AS A COACHING REPLACEMENT AT TENNESSEE.

Tennessee needs a head coach who recruits well, with a proven winning record and genuinely loves the Big Orange and its fans. Jon Gruden has none of those abilities or capabilities. He ain't even a good NFL commentator.

I'm sick and tired of hearing Jon Gruden's name come up every time there's a vacancy. He needs to stay where he is, and we need to get us a great coach. Gruden is not. Dude... you're not in the running. Your number ain't coming up. I will personally travel the 100 miles to Knoxville myself and lobby AGAINST you if your name comes up, and I hope you are there visiting when I do.

Quit drinking the Gruden Koolaid, Vol fans. It ain't got no sugar in it.

I'd rather have Peyton Manning. Heck, I'd rather have Phil Fulmer back, before Jon Gruden. My mother would be a better choice.... at least, she has the dignity and respect to not use the offer to get more money out of her current employer.
Go to hell

Trey Wallace reported we had been in contact with Gruden, Mullen, and Gundy. Sexton represents Mullen.

Didn’t Gundy refuse to even interview in 2012?

Just curious as to what his response was this time although I wouldn’t care too much for the hire.

My wife watched with me and she doesn't care either way but said he acts and looks like he has something up his sleeve.

And sadly a woman’s radar is better than ours!
It’s like the second X completes a sneaky gene, and they see details we miss.

Not that I’ve ever been caught doing something I shouldn’t

Also Gruden said on his interview on 11/10 I believe that his ESPN contract is NOT GUARANTEED.
So he may have 10 million reasons to move on to oranger pastures

If it's going to happen, this is when it will.

I just can't understand people using logic for why someone wouldn't come, but completely ignore the same logic for the other person.

my fellow grudenites,

i normally don’t discuss my problems on a message board and this is probably not the time or the place..i’m taking the rest of the evening off due to an illness..been under the weather the last few days but today is the worst..in 2015, i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and seem to be having a flare-up which is very frustrating and painful..anyways, may i ask a favor of you all and just keep me in your prayers..should be on tomorrow sometime to check in..

Even if u think Gruden is a horrible coach...it is undeniable his name alone would have 5 stars coming out of our arses. ..and have us as top 2 at worst in talent. Then just have good coordinators and we"re fine. Make no mistake...Gruden would a massive hire.

Been saying this since 2010.

You can say what you want about Saban as a game day coach. Everyone would admit he is above average. Possibly great.

But damn. They are so damn good every year because they have the best recruits every damn year. At some point, if you want what they have, you have to take what they have, and what they have... Is those ****ing recruiting classes. That's where it starts.

If Gruden is the guy, and he sucks at recruiting, I will eat my words. But damnit. We have to compete for the best class in the country at least every other year if we want to consistently challenge to get out of the SEC before Saban has a oatmeal creampie induced stroke.

If it isn't Gruden, maybe we can get Jay Z in as OC. IDGAF. The celebrity is a key part of the equation with Gruden. It absolutely shouldn't be dismissed as a bad reason we want him here.

The only way I read the Stalking Horse reference is that the boosters were the stalking horse, gaging interest and viability with Gruden. Because they learned that the deal was viable, now the AD (the "anonymous third party") can move forward with the deal.

I literally can't read it another way.

That’s a good interpretation, imho.

So this didn't get posted by Beaver?

"It wasn’t a question of if but when they would fold. Hence my 100% confidence throughout this process. The only uncertainty was of Gruden wanted the job, thankfully he did."

Doesn't sound like speculation. Again, whether Gruden does or doesn't come here is beside the point. You are incorrect in your assertion that no one has said the deal was done because they have. Did you ever compile the list of insiders or define what an "outside insider" is?

I’m not the one trying to prove something, you are. Beav hasn’t been here for years posting in the game threads, griping about the coach, summarizing the problems, etc... he just showed up and begin presenting info that has been pretty accurate. He came from the outside of the common posters to present inside information. Make sense? So i don’t include him in the group that I’m referring too. If that doesn’t make sense to you, then drop it because I’ve already wasted time trying to convince you of something you desperately need.
