I agree. I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the OL suddenly look healthier, and for us to be slightly competitive with LSU (at least early). I just think the team will play loose and have fun. We'll see.

Remember Butch had his list? Wonder what he's going to do with his list now? Also, if he's using a scorched earth policy on the way out, it needs to be well publicized. Future employers should know what they could be getting themselves into.

The Wallace guy just wrote an article saying the following,

“Tennessee boosters have quietly reached out to Jon Gruden over the past few weeks & have offered him a contract of $7.6 Million that would max out around the $10.2 Million dollar range per year including incentives, as we’ve been reporting for weeks now with Gruden even being allowed to use Tennessee booster Jim Haslam’s private plane in a way to entice him to accept the offer.”

Butch Jones out at Tennessee, now taking “Leadership Reps”

Yeah, he has been saying this for a while. If he says no, offer more.

Josh Dobbs hid a lot of the flaws in that offense, oh and Kamara and John Kelly also didnt get much playing time until Hurd left the team and Butch was forced to play them.

I think the lack of development and poor personnel decisions (and injuries) has tainted you guys opinion of both lines.

We still have

McKenzie
Tuttle
Johnson
Picou
Bennett
Crosby
Taylor
Phillips
Johnson
Butler
Blakey

Smith
Richmond
Johnson
Tatum
Locklear
Brooks
Niehaus
Calbert

All or most of these guys we were very happy about and were fairly highly rated. Some have been pressed into action before they were ready. Some haven't been developed and coached properly.

I see talent there. OL depth is lacking. With the right coaching and another good year of S&C and a good finish to recruiting this year we will be ok.

Maybe so. But how many quality SEC lineman do you see in that group though? I only see 5 that have shown flashes. McKenzie, Tuttle, Taylor, Phillips and Smith. The rest haven't proven anything. We have bodies I just don't see quality depth on either side.

I would venture to say we don't know what we have . Under a competent coach Richmond may shine. Everybody goes on about QB whisperers why not an OL whisperer.

It's not that hard to see. Coach in his case won't make enough difference. He is lazy, slow and plays soft. Scheme won't fix that.

So this big, expensive and explosive bit.

If there is any truth to that at all, I can only think of two names.

Gruden
Chip Kelly

What if Gruden is the smokescreen for Kelly?

In years past, I'd say that this sounds a lot like a bad virus and, in no way, sounds like our potential coaching hire.

Now...

And Butch didn't want to play Dobbs either his first two seasons remember? He only played out of necessity and was too good to bench at that point.

Pay attention here. For some reason, this dude is getting all the info and breaking all of the big news lately.

Richmond never sniffs being drafted. It doesn't matter who the coach is. Blame your opinion on Rivals.com. He was never the kind of talent the recruiting sites made him out to be.

I'll reserve judgment on any of our OL until I see them in a different system. That OL Jones's first year had a few NFL players, but still looked like garbage on the field under him.

I got in a argument with my brothers this week about Dobbs. I think Dobbs would have won the Heisman somewhere else. I mean he was playing in a garbage scheme behind a garbage OL and still put up crazy numbers.
