Who cares about losing recruits.

We needed to get rid of our horrifically bad coach. Getting the right guy in place is so much more important that any kid in this recruiting class.

Currie will meet the media at 5 obviously. Now knowing Currie he won't say much at 5.

It's going to be interesting to see how much Currie leans on others and who those guys are. Will he use Fulmer as a resource? Is Peyton going to be in the middle of it?

I would expect Currie will use a search firm and he will attempt to work in as much secrecy as possible working in big cities, even taking commercial flights or flying out of cities other than Knoxville.

In talking to some the last couple of hours, one of the reason Currie has been so deliberate in this is that he didn't want the coaching profession or others thinking that he didn't give Jones a full shake because Jones wasn't his hire.

Some will say that it didn't bother Stricklin at Florida, but a couple of people have told me that Stricklin didn't want to make a move two weeks ago but was over ruled.

For Currie after last night he couldn't justify in any way keeping Jones the rest of the season and felt he had to make the move today.

A Letter from John Currie: Nov. 12, 2017 - University of Tennessee Athletics

This afternoon at 5:00 p.m. ET, I will hold a press conference to discuss this transition. The press conference will be streamed live on UTsports.com so that you can follow along and stay up-to-date as it takes place. Complete video and a full transcript of the press conference will be available to view on-demand on UTsports.com for those who are unable to view it live.

To protect the integrity of our process, following the press conference I will have no further public comments until such time we announce our new coach.*This search will be my sole focus and I will be in regular contact with Chancellor Davenport. Naturally, there will be great interest and speculation across the college football world. As I reminded our student-athletes when I met with them earlier today, unless you hear news directly from me, do not assume it to be accurate#GRUMORS

It almost feels like Christmas and I am waiting to see what our new gift is going to be when the HC is unwrapped.

Gruden (lol), Kelly, Patterson, Frost, Mullen, Campbell, then Taggart in that order.

I still think it's going to be Mullen.

It was bad but exaggerated. Competent coaching could’ve hid some deficiencies. IMO debatable that the roster next year is in better shape than what was inherited. Arguments for both sides

Again, not exaggerated at all. The roster was every bit as bad as advertised. The roster next year will lack depth and development but will have more talent than 5 years ago.

Count me in with Mullen's (Mehlen's) Marauders (Minions).

Didn't like that last offensive series against Bama and have never been a big fan of Grantham, but overall I would be very happy with that hire. I like the 3/4 better and feel they could adapt the current roster to it well. Need a QB developer with a proven offensive system and Mullen fits that.
