I find it interesting that when actually fired, Jones was offered to coach the last two games and declined.
Seems like if he was actually fired weeks ago, he wouldn't have been coaching this whole time if he had no interest in remaining after the fact. It's almost like he was fired today and not weeks ago.
Sorry, just a random thought.
Just not true...at all. Shelby County alone, much less the rest of West TN, has an enormous amount of faithful Vols fans. I don't where you guys get this. I was at a relatively small party last night with at least 7 UT grads. We just want to win.
That's such BS.
Did a test about a year ago...drove from my home in Lebanon to downtown Nashville and back, mostly on I-40 but on Hwy 109 at the Lebanon end, and downtown streets in Nashville as well.
The whole way, counted car decals, vanity plates, anything that gave an indication of team loyalty.
The Vols won that count by a score of something like 30 to 2 to 1 to 1 to 1 to 1. The 2s and 1s were Vandy, Kentucky, Bama, Georgia, Florida, etc. Even the Titans only got a few hits.
Nashville is a Volunteers town. No doubt about it.
And, as a co-axiom, the Vols are not a Knoxville or East Tennessee team...they are Tennessee's college team. Period.
