But, I am not raining on the parade of any of the Gruden believers.

Honestly. And none of us knows anything until it happens.

Hope for the future! That's what all of us have in common.

And thank you, SFD, for every kind word. Really.

You guys are amazing. Thank you! Regardless of what does or does not happen today, Vol fans have it the best, simply because of who we are.

Everybody just needs to be patient.

No, we need this madness to end. Time for patience has long since passed. How he's been allowed to continue this far is beyond me, regardless of the turmoil and UT not wanting an interim.

This is about closure, even if Jones finishes the year.

Thank you very much. All I could find was the press conference that day, but couldn't find when it was announced, or people "knew" it was coming. This AD is different I know, but just wondering. Basically if nothing it's announced by 12, then nothing going to happen, imo.

I was excited about Gruden but am cooling off - mainly because he's been out of it so long. Does he even know what "targeting" is? He would need to make really good staff decisions. I of course would still welcome him - or literally anybody else at this point.

OK, I found this, published 11/18/2012 @ 11:23 am, meaning that the press conference was announced Sunday morning (and the contents of the conference leaked):

Tennessee fires Derek Dooley after embarrassing loss

Bumping to add (for others who love prowling around old threads):

It seems that the news broke on Hubbs's show right before 11 am. Amazingly, there aren't 5 billion likes on the posts repeating this --I guess everyone was too stunned, or hungover. :)

In case the link to the post itself doesn't work, it was on Gruden VIII, page 114 (everybody HAS set their preferences to 50 per page, right?), post #5692.

For me, though, it is EXACTLY like 2012.

Right down to the use of "smokescreen"

I wouldn’t mind Mullen at all.

I would. For various reasons I've outlined before that I don't care to go into with my distinct lack of sleep and irritability factor (thought not specifically at you) this morning.

I'm quite a grumpy bear this morning and would probably reach over the internet and strangle someone that starts with the whole "But Mullen can't recruit to Starkville!" comment.

And back down the coaster you go.

I love your insight and appreciate your positive attitude, what is leading you to believe this is still a possibility honestly? Butch will probably not be let go today, we hear it's done oh wait not done, now it's out in media that Tampa is a real possibility for Gruden. Either this is the biggest covert operation of a hire ever or we have truly been fooled again. My faith in this administration is at an all time low this morning.

If your serious, it won't be hard to find. Just look at the property appraisers site for Knox County.

It's listed under a trust but still not hard to find; however, not hard to find & has been named in these threads. It's a gated community, but please let's not even joke about this kind of stunt. Embarrassing for the whole fan base. I'm sure the founder of the FFCA would not approve.

Well then you are going to have to wait until the end of the year. So quit your *****ing. I think we'll all be happy in the end.

This Sunday feels like every other Sunday for the last month or so.
Sunday morning -Everyone wakes up hungry for news of a press conference announcement.

Sunday afternoon -No press conference today so that must mean it will be on Monday replacing the normal weekly presser.

Sunday night/Monday morning -The thread is flooded with rumors and information from "people close to the situation" that all point to it being done and will become official on Monday.

Monday press conference -Butch marches out firing off cliches looking forward to the next game while fielding softball questions from the media.

I have never coached and I know what the targeting rule is. I would say he has heard of it.

The Tennessee coaching staff is arriving on campus to go into the office this morning for their normal Sunday workday.

AD John Currie is also on campus having arrived in the last 30 minutes.

The question is if this is normal for Currie.

By all accounts, the guy isn't stupid. However he is displaying stupidity in his lack of action. Asking the fans for $300 million and then letting Butch Jones burn this program to the ground is bad bad business.

Unless he has such a Michael Jordan-esque slam dunk hire that our attention is completely diverted from this.

SIAP, but I'm playing catch up.

It’s time to face reality. Butch is here until the end of the season regardless and Gruden WILL NOT be the next coach.

It was fun to ponder over but we need to wake up. UT football is in shambles and it’s blatantly obvious Currie has no effing clue as to what to do.

Tampa's HC is only in his 2nd year so I don't see that but idk. Good note it did say a lot are saying this is the year he will return

Tampa's coach is gone after the season. It's the NFL which means win now or be gone especially with the players they have on their roster.

NFL = Not For Long.
