Just curious, in your opinion what would firing Butch weeks ago(Or now) have changed for 2018?


And I'm not saying I'm opposed to firing him rn, I've wanted him gone for a long while. But I don't see how firing him mid season does anything for the future, and it's debatable imo that it does anything at all for this season

For the football team, nothing. They would lose and look horrible because the talent is just lacking. I've never seen a UT team this slow and soft. Plus if he's fired, who will the interim coach be? They're all bad football coaches.

For Butch Jones, a lot. The longer he's stayed on the more he's becoming a walking talking football joke. He's been exposed as a fraud. His career as a head football coach is done.

Mullen won’t leave Starkville. We are being used by Sexton for his client to get a fat raise. We can only hope to the good Lord that MSU ponies up. Do not want someone who does not like to recruit.

Looks like I need to step away from any football threads for awhile. I know you guys hate Butch, but I still think he's a good coach that just hit his limit and couldn't break through here. It's time to move on.

Here is good news for both sides on the Mississippi State loss.

1. I don't have to hear about Mullen finally beating Alabama from you Mullenites.
2. Maybe Dan finally realizes he needs to be in a bigger pond to get by Saban and feels the need to move to Tennessee.

FYI.... He's referring to SWAN MAN who is a highly respected poster there. He broke the Kiffin news before anyone else. He is optimistic Gruden is happening.
Also, Larry is staying low because he doesn't believe Gruden wants to coach in college or at all for that matter, not because the admin isn't going after him. He has stated that he is the #1 target and AD and boosters are aligned to get him.


I'm still holding at I'll believe it when I see it.

Ugh. Just woke up on my flight and caught up on the thread.

Among many, many disappointments, I am now convinced we have at least a two year rebuild. I thought Butch left this place in better shape than he found it, and I don't think he did. It is a less attractive job than I would have thought.

Football as a sport will end sometime in the next 25 years, due to the steady declines in youth participation. I'm not sure Tennessee will have figured anything out before it does...
