Give me the assumption Gruden is a no-go and we have to move on to other candidates.
5 years from now, what is Mullen's average yearly record at Tennessee?
It's the end of the night at the bar and you're happy you're going home with the 6 so you don't have to go home with the 2.
I like Mullen and think hed be a nice upgrade but some of you have lost your minds with this Mullen hype.
We could get pretty much any of the coaches that have been rumored if we would put half the effort as we apparently do with Gruden. Gruden is a waste of time imo.Who do you think we have a legitimate shot at getting in your opinion? I want to believe we can get a homerun hire this time.
I, personally, don't have much faith in the AD getting this right. History says they will hire an unimpressive coach with an average record. I hope they prove me wrong.
You didn't ask me but I'd guess he'd average 9 regular season wins over 5 years. That's including a 7 win season next year.
When he gets destroyed today the hype will wear off. As if Georgia killing him wasn't enough. South Carolina put up a better fight than Mississippi State versus Georgia. No way I want Mullen at Tennessee.
There's a reason he's been at Mississippi State this long. Herman got a better job than him a lot quicker for a reason.

Approached but not hired huh? Why hasn't he left yet? We will end up only average under him. Waste of time to bring Mullen to Knoxville.
That's my guess as well.
Here is the University of Tennessee historical record (per Wiki) 829-375-53 for a winning percentage of .681.
Averaging 9 wins in a 12 game year would put our winning percentage at. 750. Even those who are considered anti-Mullen concede this would likely be his floor.
Tennessee is top 10 in wins all-time and we would be beating that pace.
Hire Mullen.
