As long as volatil doesn’t say Gruden is coming, I’m on board. Volatil failed his recruiting job and I don’t want him to botch the coaching search up.

Anyone that wants Mullen over Gruden needs to go see a doctor. Something is wrong with your brains.

I dont think I'd go that far. Preferring a proven college commodity over a totally unproven one isnt absurd. Mullen has coached his team at a pretty consistently high level while being in the strongest division in football and at a school with pretty serious disadvantages. I can see why he is actually a lot of people top choice tbh.

If Mullen is in our back pocket then we are idiots for not saying screw Gruden and hiring Mullen as soon as possible

Edit: no idea how I put that green smiley in title

Mullen is solid but I can't see that he's done anything to warrant such a move. Tons of people speculate that he'd kill it here but that IS speculation. I think what we get with Mullen is a higher floor than many others but we really don't know what his ceiling could be.

I do wonder if we are hyping Gruden up too much to a Saban/Meyer type level.

The questions/concerns about his length out of coaching, drive to be a relentless recruiter, etc are valid.

Reasonable.

But that's not the reality. There are several solid programs in Texas now and it's no longer an easy job. Been way since they lost to Bama in the championship. It's the same power struggle up top UT experiences. An immense amount of pressure to win and a massive spotlight on your every move. A lot of coaches can't do that. Florida is Strong's turf. He would own it there.

Florida will hire a coach with a offensive background and no one else.

My immediate family has two marines, one army, one Air Force. It’s currently 2 find disrespectful. 1 doesn’t care. 1 thinks it’s the right he provided by his service. I’m guessing you could poll 1000 veterans and you’d get some similar views.

I agree.

How many Super Bowls has Mullen won??

That's the only argument I need Shawn!!

I know a UL fan who thinks he has lost it. They consider Jackson the best player in their history. I am guessing some UL fans might be happy if he left.

Of all the candidates mentioned, Petrino is at the very bottom of my list. Right below Kiffin.

I'm beside myself when people say they quit watching the NFL over the anthem stuff.

Like, I always meander my way to Fox/CBS around 12:15 anyway and I miss what, like two plays? And people are purposefully boycotting the NFL over whether or not someone stands?

Do these people stand up at home for the anthem? Gimme a break

This might sound stupid but I do stand and make my family stand whenever the anthem is played. Even at home. I also tell my sons it’s acceptable to cover their heart or salute as well.

Growing up the son of a Marine and having played sports up to college, it’s what I do.

One difference between Saban and Gruden brought up occasionally, but needs more forethought...

Saban is driven to be the best, and would pillage and burn cities to the ground if it stood between him and victory.

Gruden seems to be having trouble convincing himself he even wants skin in the game

Still... bring me Gruden

With Gruden we will land at least one #1 overall recruiting class - maybe more. I have no doubt.

His star power and NFL connections coupled with our facilities will have top recruits lining up.

Our talent will rival Bama’s within a couple of years.

Literally no doubt in my mind.
