Official Jon Gruden Thread 30

Paul Finebaum said he does NOT think Jon Gruden will be the next coach at Tennessee... He said he thought Tennessee will go after him but that he would not accept because of the long hours

He comes up with a different reason every day. Does he have a Gruden Magic Eight-Ball that he shakes before he goes onto the air to give him the reason of the day?

Also, have you kicked yourself off of your own twitter page today?

Lulz. Gruden is a workaholic. He said one reason college would bother him is because of limited hours. PF blowing smoke today.

Preacher, we never know the WHOLE story inside a person's head at any point in their lives. There are motivations to play down (or play up) possible future jobs, careers, directions they could take their lives.

And you're right, Jon never said he wouldn't. He never locked the door.

But in an interview just a few months ago with PewterReport.com, he was quoted as saying,

That's sort of the coaching interview equivalent of the job interview response, "My biggest shortcoming? It's that I just care too much and don't know when to quit" answer. So you have to take it with a big grain of salt.

But that's what people are referring to when they say Jon said he didn't want to coach at the college level.

Doesn't apply to the Vols, of course, because we're awesome and he'll find a way to stay inside the rules for us.

Go Vols!

i know what they're referring to, and he never said i wouldn't coach college.

i'm not upset with you.

i'm upset with the nice people that come into this thread and spout off a bunch of garbage and take a dump on everyone in this thread because we believe and hope that Gruden will be our coach. they use this quote, and twist it to say something he did not say, to prove a point that they cannot make otherwise.

again, he did not say he would not coach college.
period.

and again, i ain't mad bro, not at you or anybody else.

especially after the news that's broke today.
you kidding me? heck no, i ain't mad.

I know this is bizarro world talk. Gruden said he loves to work hour upon hour and the hardest thing to college for him would be hour limitations.

Mullen is 39-22 over the past 5 seasons with Mississippi St resources and talent in the West.

Butch is 34-26 over the past 5 seasons with Tennessee resources and talent in the East.

If Dan Mullen is our "worst case scenario" hire, count me in. Anyone thinking Tennessee is above Dan Mullen has had their head buried in the sand for the past 10 years.

Prescott made mullen look better just like Dobbs propped up Butch long enough to get a stupid extension....enough of this Gruden to the hill!!! Take this to the hire Mullen thread.

Had a business lunch with a GA fan today. He asked if Bobo was on our radar. I politely smiled and said "you mean the guy GA pushed out the door and told to look for another job?" Internally I was laughing.

Finebaum waffles more than the waffle house. He is the king of wafflers. He is doing nothing but playing to the audience. Nothing against him, it is just what he does. Tomorrow he will be saying he thinks Gruden is going to Tennessee and the next day he was say something else. SOON! GRUDEN TO TENNESSEE!

Some people might want to slow down on the Haslam bashing. Remember Haynesworth's last round of tweets. He was praising him. Not saying we should hold on to every word Haynesworth says but you have to take bits and pieces of this stuff and watch how things are unfolding. If Trey Wallace's info is true there are going to be a lot of folks out there taking back what they said. Would love to hear how Basilio reacts.

T.Basillo needs an azz whooping....WGWTBFA !!!!!
