Official Jon Gruden Thread 30

Tifwiw Listening to Dan Reaves and Seabass here in Jackson and Dan said he got an email from Warner Agee that said Jon Gruden will be the next coach at Tennessee and to look for it to start leaking out Sunday. I know most of us already know this but it seems that word is starting to get out. Warner also said this comes from a source that he trusts very much.

That's my reason to live another day! (It's a joke, folks)
So Hope it's true.

Some people might want to slow down on the Haslam bashing. Remember Haynesworth's last round of tweets. He was praising him. Not saying we should hold on to every word Haynesworth says but you have to take bits and pieces of this stuff and watch how things are unfolding. If Trey Wallace's info is true there are going to be a lot of folks out there taking back what they said. Would love to hear how Basilio reacts.

I've said it many times now... if we really do land Gruden... so many in the media (including many others, some even on here) are going to be eating so much crow the crow will become extinct

Ainge and Basillio will have to spin things a ton as well - including Rucker

I knew it wasn't..the problem on here is some people are like a merry go 'round. They change opinions with every grumor or piece of 4th hand information. It's so late in the game it's either happened or it hasn't.

I think it's done and he's signed..I could be extremely nieve and gullible, but I'm going with it until someone is at the podium telling me it isn't.

I'm not an insider, just a believer.

I think your deductive skills are very sharpened and well tuned, however don't discount the emotional trauma that the 2012 search brought upon many posters.

Many (including myself) believed every positive report given, and refused to accept signs along the way because it was what we wanted to hear. Those who some believe are wavering are simply trying to keep an open mind and look at both sides of this coin, to avoid the possibility of a repeat that was their assessment of the 2012 search

Not one of these timeline Grumors have come true. IMO, anything with a specific timeline given is BS misinformation.

Here is my Grumor, sometime before the Wednesday after the Vandy game, Butch will no longer coach here. Sometime after that, before Christmas, Jon Gruden will accept the position.

I was told:

Gruden's next job is as HC of the Vols. He doesn't want any part of the NFL right now.
Happy for all that but would love for JG to suceed at UT way into his 60’s....instead of “right now” make it “never”....Fulmer 2.0 but quadruple nattys !

Trey Wallace:

"It is a fluid situation with TN right now."

"Offered Gruden 10.2 million including incentives."

"Told by people in NFL & by people at TN that things are different than 2012"

more to come....

More Trey Wallace:

"The money men have seen what has gone one for the past 7-8 years and are tired of it."

"TN is not going to go out and hire another coach like Dooley or Jones again."

Exactly what I have been thinking. With all the turmoil going on in the NFL with ratings and players taking Knees why would you want to be an NFL coach right now? You control more at the college level, so I think if he coaches again it will be in college and at Tennessee.

Exactly. There's never been a better time to jump from the NFL (foundering ship), and never been a better situation and time to come in and be the savior of UT football, in the highest-profile conference in college football. Plus.... make bank at the same time.

It's a Grumendous opportunity, really. He won't miss it.
