I think the basic reasoning is sound here. HOWEVER, I don't think it would apply to Cade. I think any coach worth his salt takes Cade on talent alone.

I understand you and the Mr. had a chance to see him play and were underwhelmed. I have looked at more of his film and would probably err on the side of that being a fluke game. But then again, I'm not a pro at this like Mr. SFD is.

I have certainly suggested it may have just been an off night.

I too doubt that Mays is an intended target of the attrition. I just think it is possible that Gruden wants to get the numbers low so that he gets his picks. I'd venture to guess that every single decommit would be willing to come back if asked by gruden.

He did say the line would move, not disputing that. Could be the second coming of nostradamus? Or maybe a good guess? Or maybe he simply promised Gruden is a done deal and watched the bets being placed?

I thought immediately that someone with inside info and a boatload of cash made a huge bet on Gruden while the odds were high. Like at least 18-20 to 1.

I have asked previously on here with no response...

I wonder what role (if any) Sexton is playing in all of this.

trying (and failing) to find butch a place to land.
i think that's why butch was begging boosters.

aside from maybe working with haslam, who is struggling against his overthrow, i don't think sexton is a player in this at all otherwise.

I am not looking for proof but enough evidence to point me that direction.... I am glad you are sold on Ergen... the one thing that has lead me to thing this could have legs is hearing that Hubbs said he was more involved than normal

It is being played out by the media that Ergen is frugile and generally disinterested in what is going on with our program. I don't know jack s#@t however every time I watch a Dish Network commercial I get the sense someone there cares about UT football. Perhaps they've had enough and are ready to act. One can hope....

So I have never dropped any sort of information before, and by no means am I an insider, but I do have one small thing I can share while things are so dead.

I work in the political realm, and a source within my office who knows the Haslams has pretty much confirmed that the power struggle exists. I was joking in the morning the other day about how everyone needs to prepare for Gruden, when that staffer was telling me that not if the Haslams have their way. According to them, the Haslams were lobbying for Petrino or Kiffin. Which I find hard to believe, but that is what I have been told.

Wrong coach with the letter K. Their top two were Kelly and Petrino.

Could be the reason we hear names like Kiffin iirc Sexton is his agent as well as he is many other names I keep hearing..... ie Mullen
Haslam probably has gotten a percentage from sexton after signing all the coaches for Tennessee in football. I don't trust ole Haslam.

Speaking of Mays, I have a question. I've only seen a very small amount of tape on him and he was so much larger than everyone else, are we sure he will be all that once he is competing with others his size?
If someone who is qualified to answer this would respond, I would appreciate it! The size differential was immense so just wondering.. Tia

I have watched a lot of his games. I live in Knoxville and know the family. Met him a few times.

He is way bigger than most of his opponents. Based on that he doesn't have to put forth a lot of effort. Certainly that will not be the case in college. Given his recruiting rankings and offers I would expect he'll be up to it. His dad's motor was pretty good. You just never know.

did you mean size?

If I remember reading correctly, someone said they were making multiple 50 dollar bets (max amt allowed) with a total of $500 - so 10 bets, and the line moved from 1800 to 1200. So imo, it don't take much to move the line because not many people are betting on it in general.

Even if Gruden wanted to keep Mays, how could he do that at this point? He can't contact or have someone contact him as there is no way a teen could keep this silent. He has no choice but to let him go and hope to win him back later after he is announced. I'm not worried about the decommitments as long as Gruden is announced before the end of the month. The sooner the better.

I haven't saw the post... I am not on TOS but someone posted that he said this

Yeah, I'm taking what someone said as gospel too, lol. My boss has a VQ subscription, he sends me the War Room every Friday, but he's in meetings today so I can't get him to check. Hubbs, in his War Room posts, treated the Gruden situation as a joke. But about 3 weeks ago, he changed his tune...actually promising some Grumors himself. It's no longer a joke amongst the VQ site runners.

But those will come back once Gruden is announced. Their offers are null and void once the kid decommits. That would give Gruden the option to re-offer or not.

Verbal commitments are not legally binding for either party. He could pull offers from anyone he wants, whether they decommit or not.

Have they brought any new info?
